Position Overview: 

As part of the talented Quality team, you will work with the MerCruiser assembly product lines and report to the Quality Manager.  The main role of this position will be to maintain quality assurance procedures, practices, and standard evaluation methods, that will ensure product quality and integrity to minimize process variation.

Essential Functions:  

Work individually or collaboratively to reduce manufacturing process or product variation, using laboratory instruments and equipment, along with root cause corrective action methodsLead in formal problem-solving projects including completion and documentation of corrective action requestsUtilize and understand engineering drawings, and understand tolerances and key product featuresPerform dimensional inspections of parts utilizing calipers, micrometers, and other hand-held gaugesRecommend design changes or improvements in production methods through FMEA or other methods as appropriateWork with managers, supervisors, engineers, technicians, and operators to assist with training as requiredLead manufacturing's non-conforming material process as required, and identify scrap reduction opportunitiesOrganize quality spill resolution, including part sorts, containment activities, and creating quality alertsInstitute visual aids and quality alerts to support assembly operationsPerform internal process, product, and ISO audits as directed, to ensure assembly conformance to requirementsInitiate or review deviations, FMEAs, Control Plans and other quality documents in the quality management systemClearly communicate quality standards & concerns to supervision and support staffCommitment to health and safety (both in the office, laboratory, and in the plant)

Required Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or related technical discipline requiredThree or more years of experience in a QE role, with complex assembly operations in a manufacturing settingPossess a mechanical aptitude with the ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutionsMust be detail oriented, with the ability to pay very close attention to specificationsAbility to perform basic mathematical calculations and basic statisticsProficient knowledge of PC software including Word, Excel, and Power PointWorking knowledge of pertinent assembly manufacturing and inspection techniquesPossess both verbal and written communication skills to effectively present data and information to managementAbility to guide supervision in making proper decisions relative to product and process control issuesSelf-motivated with the ability to learn and lead by example, utilizing a good work ethic and a positive attitudeExcellent organizational, time management, communication, and follow-up skillsAbility to perform duties independently, consulting manager for only occasional exceptionsAbility to be flexible and able to manage diverse and/or changing priorities and assignmentsAbility to lead, work with, and instruct others in related job functionsWillingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications: 

ASQ – Certified Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor, Quality Inspector or Quality Technician is desiredLSS Green Belt Certification is desiredDemonstrated history of problem-solving skills and root cause analysisAbility to organize data, perform statistical process analyses, and draw meaningful conclusionsAbility to read and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)Strong computer skills including knowledge of software such as Power BI and Power AppsKnowledge of manufacturing execution systems such as PINpoint or Pro-PlannerKnowledge of quality tools including Process Mapping, PFMEA, Validation Studies, MSA, and Control PlansExperience in Lean Manufacturing and 5SBilingual - ability to speak both English and Spanish
