Position Overview:
The Supplier Quality Supervisor – Non-Metallic will drive process and product improvements, support new product development, and lead APQP processes. This role will serve as the subject matter expert who will collaborate and guide engineering development, ensure appropriate GD&T, develop inspection setups with suppliers, and lead design for manufacturing activities.
This role involves all supply management and manufacturing aspects, including supplier grade development, supplier quality program development, and oversight. The candidate should have proven analytical, project management, personnel management, and interpersonal skills.

Essential Functions:
+ SME for non-metallic processes, with a focus on injection molding and SMC, familiar with mold design, GD&T and application for inspection setup and tolerancing of molded components or assemblies.
+ Oversee the entire life cycle of suppliers' non-metallic projects, from conception to production (including AAR of Class-A surfaces).
+ Use statistical tools (DOE, MSA/Gage R&R, Process capability, and Statistical Process Control) to drive process and product improvements.
+ Make/suggest improvement ideas to suppliers' molding processes to reduce cycle time and eliminate waste and scrap without sacrificing part quality.
+ Act as the primary point of contact between Mercury suppliers, tool makers, procurement, engineering and manufacturing operations to investigate and resolve supplier quality issues
+ Lead cross-functional teams, facilitate and improve the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process with suppliers, including tool/fixture makers and from initial design stage through PPAP submission and the start of production.
+ Serve as a technical resource for new business quoting activities, providing valuable insights and expertise into tooling and gages, create project schedules and monitor associated supplier progress to program deliverables.
+ Perform supplier audits and site inspections; develop process improvement plans and drive implementation; drive long-term preventative actions.
+ Lead supplier DFMEA activities, design reviews, PFMEA and process development as part of early supplier engagement to ensure manufacturing needs are considered in the design phase and proper quality expectations are defined.
+ Lead and develop a team of quality engineers

Required qualifications:
+ Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience in plastic injection molding, SMC molding, or mold-making processes ideally in a Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role
+ Good understanding and strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, stress analysis, mold flow analysis, DFM, etc.
+ Strong analytical abilities, technical writing abilities and comprehensive understanding of quality tools (IATF 16949, statistical methods, MSA, FMEA, DOE, etc).
+ Ability to read and interpret schematics/drawings and an in-depth knowledge of the application of quality standards and specifications.
+ Experience with cosmetic classifications and understanding of process parameters that affect cosmetic defects (Appearance/AAR, Class-A surfaces)
+ Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
+ Demonstrated leadership in driving successful project outcomes.
+ Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
+ The ability to provide solutions that reflect an understanding of business objectives and cost implications.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Strong understanding of polymer rheology and test methods such as DSC, TGA, and physical testing
+ Experience with failure analysis using advanced techniques.
+ Recognized as a technical expert in Plastics Engineering
+ The ability to provide solutions that reflect an understanding of business objectives and cost implications.
+ Direct experience or advanced training applicable to the processing of thermoplastics and/or extruded materials in a production environment
+ Experience in supporting product and process development through the product lifecycle and associated assets.
+ Experience with supply chain/Procurement, APQP/PPAP
+ Certification through ASQ, LSS, PMI, or other applicable recognized organizations
Education Requirements:
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering-
+ Plastics/Polymer Processing is preferred
+ Supply Chain/procurement management experience is a plus
+ APQP/PPAP knowledge is a plus
Business Travel Expectations:
Potential to travel 25-45% on a short- or long-term basis depending on project phase and level of supplier support required
