We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Mercury Security Evangelism to lead our strategic initiatives for Mercury security solutions. This role is dedicated to advancing our position in the access control market, advocating for the value of Mercury controllers, and ensuring our solutions exceed customer expectations in security and usability. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of access control requirements, technical sales expertise, and a proven ability to engage and educate stakeholders on complex security solutions.

This individual will play a pivotal role in promoting the Mercury brand, driving growth, and building strong relationships with integrators, consultants, and end-users. Well-qualified candidates should have a history of success in technical sales or sales engineering within the access control sector, with experience selling to both end-users and key influencers. A strong grasp of industry drivers, market demands, and competitive products is essential, as well as expertise in executing channel strategies and fostering collaborative relationships.

As our Mercury Security Evangelist, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

 

Strategic End-Customer Sales:

Collaborate with the HID End User team to identify, close, and convert Mercury controller opportunities. Develop and execute tailored strategies to maximize customer engagement and build the opportunity pipeline. Gather and analyze existing end customer system details, customer feedback, and competitive insights to refine sales approaches and enhance customer engagement.

Consultant and Integrator Engagement:

Serve as a trusted advisor to consultants and integrators, providing technical expertise and guidance on Mercury solutions. Work closely with integrators to support implementation and ensure successful deployment of Mercury products. Engage with consultants to promote and position Mercury solutions in projects and specifications.

OEM Partner Collaboration:

Build strong alignment with Mercury’s partner ecosystem to enhance cooperation and drive joint success with end user opportunities. Act as an extension of partner sales organizations, providing resources, expertise and support to amplify their effectiveness and results

Internal Product Evangelism:

Act as the primary internal resource and expert on Mercury controllers and related access control solutions Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product understanding and alignment on strategic goals Develop and lead training programs to equip sales, support, and technical teams with in-depth product knowledge and selling strategies Serve as a player/coach by mentoring and guiding team members while remaining hands-on in product engagement

Market Intelligence and Feedback Loop:

Gather market insights and customer feedback on Mercury products to inform product development and strategy Monitor competitive landscape and industry trends to ensure Mercury solutions remain at the forefront of access control technology Work with product development and engineering teams to influence future product enhancements based on user and partner feedback

Presentations and Thought Leadership:

Develop and deliver compelling presentations to stakeholders at various stages of the sales cycle Position Mercury solutions as industry-leading in security and access control by highlighting unique features, benefits, and success stories Serve as a key presenter at industry events and webinars, promoting Mercury’s innovations and thought leadership in the field

External Social Evangelism:

Advocate for the Mercury brand and its products through social channels, industry events, and conferences Build and maintain a network of industry contacts to enhance brand visibility and credibility Represent the company as a thought leader in access control, sharing insights on trends and product advantages with consultants, integrators, and end-users

 

 

What we will love about your background: 

 

Experience with Mercury Brand and Products

Required: In-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience with Mercury access control products, including controllers, readers, and software integration Preferred: Previous roles involving direct engagement with Mercury’s product suite, including product evangelism, technical support, or consulting on Mercury solutions

Sales and Technical Background

Required: Proven technical sales experience in the access control or broader security industry, with a successful track record in driving product adoption and customer engagement Preferred: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, supporting the sales process from initial contact through closing

Head End System Knowledge

Required: Familiarity with leading access control head end systems, including configuration, troubleshooting, and integration with Mercury hardware Preferred: Practical experience with Mercury ecosystem platforms, especially in environments where Mercury solutions serve as key components within larger security ecosystems

Manufacturing Insight (Preferred)

Preferred: Experience with or understanding of the manufacturing side of access control or electronic security products, offering insights into production processes, product lifecycle, and supply chain considerations Optional: Experience working with OEMs or in environments where custom product specifications and adjustments are common

Market Understanding and Channel Strategy Experience

Required: Comprehensive understanding of the access control industry, including knowledge of market trends, drivers, and competitor products Preferred: Prior experience developing and implementing channel strategies that drive product growth, as well as familiarity with demand generation, bid/award processes, and sales cycles

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders, from internal teams to external partners and customers Preferred: Strong presentation skills and experience delivering impactful, customer-facing presentations at industry events and training sessions

Strategic and Organizational Skills

Required: Ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple projects, and execute a strategic vision to position Mercury products as leaders in the market Preferred: Strong time management skills with a focus on driving measurable outcomes and delivering high-quality results

Customer-Centric Mindset

Required: Commitment to understanding and addressing customer needs, with a proactive approach to delivering value and track record of closing new business Preferred: Previous experience working directly with end-users, integrators, and consultants to ensure high levels of satisfaction and successful product adoption

Adaptability and Innovation

Required: Ability to adapt quickly to industry changes and evolving customer needs, while continuously looking for innovative ways to enhance Mercury’s market presence Preferred: Proven ability to learn new technologies and apply technical knowledge in ways that resonate with a diverse range of audiences

 

 

Your Experience and Education include:             

 

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field: Required. A strong foundation in technical or business disciplines is essential for understanding and communicating the technical nuances of Mercury products Advanced Degree or MBA: Preferred. An advanced degree in a relevant field can be advantageous for strategic decision-making and leadership responsibilities within this role 10+ Years of Experience in Access Control, Security, or a Related Field: Required. Extensive experience in the security or access control industry is crucial for a deep understanding of market trends, technologies, and customer needs 5+ Years of Technical Sales or Sales Engineering Experience: Required. Proven experience in technical sales or sales engineering, with a focus on access control solutions, is essential to support and advocate for Mercury products effectively Experience with Mercury and leading industry head-end systems: Required. Prior hands-on experience with Mercury products and integration is crucial for success in this role Experience in Manufacturing (Preferred): Experience in a manufacturing or OEM environment is advantageous, as it offers insight into product lifecycle, production challenges, and customization needs

Leadership and Strategy Experience

3+ Years in a Leadership or Evangelism Role: Preferred. Prior experience in a leadership role or as a product evangelist is beneficial, especially in positions requiring cross-functional collaboration and external engagement Channel Strategy and Market Development: Preferred. Experience developing and implementing channel strategies, particularly within the access control industry, demonstrates a strong ability to influence growth and build market presence
