Overview

The Environmental Services Manager is tasked with delivering housekeeping services that effectively address the community's needs, while also independently executing custodial duties and special housekeeping projects. The individual in this role is expected to demonstrate specialized skills and apply advanced knowledge in housekeeping practices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance evaluations.

 

Responsibilities

Oversee the housekeeping and janitorial team members to guarantee that their responsibilities are executed with professionalism and a high level of customer satisfaction. Manage team member schedules, provide training, and conduct performance evaluations. Addresses disciplinary or corrective measures as necessary, in consultation with the Plant Director. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of cleanliness and sanitation standards in Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care Communities in California, focusing on routines, procedures, and best practices. Adjust work practices to meet the community's high cleanliness and sanitation standards, while aligning with the Environmental Services department's goals. Train and manage housekeeping and janitorial staff on cleaning, floor maintenance, and dusting protocols to ensure high standards of hygiene and safety. Cleaning and disinfecting restroom fixtures, blinds, walls, light fixtures, and tubs. Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing, ensuring public safety with proper signage. Vacuum, spot clean, shampoo, and deep steam clean carpets and upholstery. Dust, polish, and clean surfaces, including desks, tables, and shelves in various community areas. Maintains an up-to-date schedule of Resident Activities and collaborates with housekeeping team members to arrange chairs, tables, and audio-visual equipment as required. Dismantles the setup following the conclusion of each activity. Coordinates and manages resident moves, adhering to established timelines and deadlines, while ensuring minimal disruption for both residents and the community. Ensure adherence to safety and sanitation regulations across all community areas. Ensure all housekeeping and janitorial staff consistently wear PPE when working in hazardous conditions. Ensure all equipment is maintained safely and reliably for housekeeping and janitorial staff. In collaboration with the housekeeping team, gathers waste and used linens, operates the trash compactor and cardboard baling machinery, adhering to established schedules and service standards. Update the SDS binder monthly regarding chemicals used within the community. Oversee all laundry operations in Skilled Nursing, Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. Maintain precise inventory records of linens, ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations. Conduct weekly meetings with Housekeeping and Janitorial staff, utilizing sign-in sheets, and report discussed topics to the Plant Director. Provide feedback to the Plant Director regarding team members' performance, identifying those not meeting expectations. Uphold and enforce confidentiality of resident care information, respecting all residents' personal and property rights. Address resident complaints and special requests promptly. Participate in and facilitate all mandatory in-service educational programs assigned by the Plant Director, covering procedures, policies, and skill development. Adhere to dress code requirements, maintaining a neat and clean appearance while ensuring good personal hygiene. Report to work as scheduled by the Plant Director, with minimal absenteeism. Notify the Plant Director at least two hours prior to the start of the shift. Display identification while on duty. Obtain approval from the Plant Director for any overtime within Environmental Services. Provide the Plant Director with daily updates on call-offs and paid time off (PTO) requests. To ensure the health and safety of both our team members and residents, Elder Care Alliance may mandate that team members receive vaccinations, engage in daily screenings, undergo surveillance testing, and utilize face coverings along with other personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with regulatory guidelines to mitigate the transmission of infectious diseases. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Director.

Qualifications – Position Requirements

At least 18 years of age. High School Diploma, GED certificate, or an equivalent qualification. Prefer at least one year of experience working with elder adults, ideally within the senior living industry. Working knowledge of Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 8, Community Care Licensing for Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly. Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community. Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.
