About This Career Opportunity

The Driver and Warehouse Associate:

Maintains accurate logs including daily temperatures of refrigerator & freezer; weight, date, & temperature of incoming & outgoing food items; & cleaning schedule. Supervises warehouse volunteers with sorting donated items. Responsible for proper disposal of unusable items. Parcels adequate quantity & equal quality of food for each site, prepares site delivery slips for each site, loads pallets and loading items in truck/van. Drives truck to sites, assists volunteers with unloading truck, set up, bag assembly, box break down & cleanup. Oversees documentation of Attendance Sheets, Volunteer Records & USDA forms. Turn in site documentation to director each month. Responsible for submitting original USDA forms to the ACCFB by deadline each month. Provides ongoing training, supervision, promotion, and appreciation of warehouse and site volunteers. Selects volunteers who are physically capable, able to take direction, co-operative, honest, reliable and share MBBP’s mission. Promotes the need for volunteers at site locations and works with Director on volunteer recruitment. Cleans warehouse (swept & moped) & delivery truck (cab, cargo area, and outside) weekly. Document weekly truck & warehouse cleaning & turns logs into the director every month. Maintain safety/cleanliness requirements of Alameda County AAA, ACCFB, FEMA, USDA & MRCC. A ssist Director with site inspections & visits from funders/sponsors/donors. Prepares accurate documentation of cleaning records, temperature records, all food transactions, site records, food bank receipts; warehouse volunteer schedules; delivery slips; and other records per program requirements. Provides copies in monthly report to Director of Brown Bag Program. Attends inservice education programs, as assigned, to learn new policies, procedures, developmental skills, etc. Attends staff meetings and assists with special events such as annual Volunteer Christmas Party, Volunteer Training’s; Brown Bag Book Review. Completes other administrative tasks as requested by Director of Brown Bag Program.


Overview

The Driver and Warehouse Associate is responsible for inventory control, parceling & delivering items to sites, record keeping, overseeing warehouse volunteers and maintaining cleanliness & safety requirements. Works with the Director to maintain quality volunteer staffing by providing good training & supervision of warehouse & site volunteers, as well as ongoing promotion of program volunteer opportunities. Maintains cleanliness, food safety & health standards required by Alameda County AAA, FEMA, Alameda County Community Food Bank, USDA & Mercy Retirement & Care Center.

Qualifications – Position Requirements

At least 18 years of age. Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community. Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months. Current First Aid Training and Certifications as per Title 22. Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively within a team setting. Possession of a valid driver's license along with a clean driving record is required. Ability to repeatedly lift  20, 30, or 45 pounds is essential.


Skills and Attributes

Sensitivity and knowledge of working with older adults and the aging process. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
Ability to communicate professionally with residents, families, peers and employees in a multi-cultural environment.
