We are looking to hire a Specialty Clinic RN. As a Specialty Clinic RN at MercyOne, you will provide patient care activities to patients from birth to 18 years as assigned. Supports patients and family needs. Acts as liaison among patients, family, medical staff, community and outside providers. Performs patient history, schedules and coordinates multiple appointments and tests, and acquires preauthorization for testing and medication from insurance companies. Relays emergency phone calls to physician and reviews emergency treatment protocol with parent until physician may be located. Assists physician in clinic with emergency medication administration when patients seize or have an altered level of consciousness. Assists physician by updating dictation in computer after physician corrects preliminary document. **Schedule:** + PRN **General Requirements:** + Behavior Standards: + Demonstrates professional, appropriate, effective and tactful written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with patient, families, medical staff, colleagues, vendors, and other departments throughout the continuum of care to promote continuity of care and services and enhance clinic image. + Demonstrates positive professional customer service being respectful of all patients, co-workers and providers, treating all with equality regardless of their sex, color, race, medical problem, sexual orientation, religion or socio-economic status. + Demonstrates a positive attitude by smiling and being courteous to all patients, co-workers and providers, making every effort to be non-judgmental with comments and conversation. + Acknowledges patient’s rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations. + Participates in orientation and staff development activities as requested. + Proactively acts as patient advocate, responding with empathy and respect to resolve patient concerns and recognizes opportunities for improvement through patient concerns. + Complies with dress code and strives to act professionally in words and actions at all times. + Participates effectively as a team member in the clinic being accountable, helpful and welcoming to co-workers, providers and patients. + Proactively continues to educate self to provide quality care and improve professional skills. + Nursing/RN: + Demonstrates ability to recognize and assess emergency needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed. + Demonstrates current level of knowledge of various payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines. + Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication. Utilizes other members of the health care team in assessing the patient and analyzes patient data. Assesses learning needs of the patient and significant others. Gives accurate and complete information to patient and family. + Evaluates patient and family understanding of treatment plan and/or instructions. + Assists with a variety of procedures, exams and/or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned . + Maintains appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, procedures and medications administered. + Accurately and legibly documents all patient interactions in patient record + Reports results and pertinent information to patients and health care team members. + Applies professional nursing skills in the provision of preventive health maintenance and treatment of ill and injured patients utilizing the four aspects of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. + Function within limitations or scope of RN license. **Education:** + Possession of a current RN License issued by the State of Iowa + Clinic/Physician office experience preferred. + BLS for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. + Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
