Position Title: Clinical Reviewer, Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery


Department: Center for Weight Management

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer's (MBSCR) key responsibility is to collect and submit accurate, complete and timely data to the MBSAQIP Data Registry Platform. This is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation and the entry of 100% of the procedures
performed at Genesis Medical Center into the MBSAQIP Data Registry Platform. The MBSCR works closely with members of the medical center and the general surgery department to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other projects that may be identified. Collecting preoperative,
intraoperative, 30-day postoperative and long-term follow up data for the program through utilization of the hospital medical record and a coordinated effort with the surgical office staff; utilizing software
applications for data collection and analysis; responsible for the accurate, complete and timely data into the database, and demonstrating appropriate use of resources necessary to gather valid, reliable data for entry into the program; establishing effective working relationships with members of the hospital
community, surgical staff, medicine, nursing, medical records and information systems departments. Relationships should also include the bariatric surgeon's office whose support is necessary for the management and success of the program; and serves as an educational resource on the MBSAQIP Data
Registry Platform for both internal and external audiences by developing educational material and delivery of presentations.

Supervisory Responsibility: Direction: The job requires some accountability for scheduling, assigning or coordinating work. Employees check the quality of work and provide guidance, instruction, training and direction to
others. Although the job does not require formal or official supervisory responsibility, the incumbent serves as group leader or acts in an informal "assistant supervisory" or "lead" role. In addition, the employee may be expected to provide information or suggestions on human resources matters.

Materials Responsibility: Very Limited. Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of
resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment, or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of control over these resources. Although human error might require the repair or replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor. The variety and volume of resources is also very limited.
Problems associated with material resources are very uncomplicated.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Education: 2 year college program


Field OF Study: Nursing


Special Training: Word processing with a minimum of 60 wpm; spreadsheet applications; medical terminology.


Licensures/Registration: Registered Nurse in Iowa
Experience: No experience required.


Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are of moderate difficulty and sensitivity. Contact with others may involve detailed & lengthy dialogues
& exchanges of information. Requires a moderate amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions involve dealing with moderately complicated problem situations or stressful encounters.


Working Condition: There are little or no adverse environmental conditions to consider.
