Job Summary
Install and maintain self-contained electric meters energized up to 240 volts in the shop and on customer premises.Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.) Read meters as required for field order and on schedule for cycle billing.
2.) Install, remove, change disconnect, and reconnect meters.
3.) Test single phase, network, and polyphase self-contained meter for proper operation and accuracy.
4.) Program meters
5.) Perform Credit and Collections related order including disconnect and reconnect for non-payment
6.) Investigate irregular usage
7.) Investigate energy diversion
8.) Repair meters, meter sockets, and meter enclosures
9.) Order, receive, ship, store, and inventory meter and associated equipment
10.) Investigate self-contained service power quality problems, install event recorders, neutral testers, and produce reports
11.) Perform work from ladders and elevated platforms
12.) Perform all duties of lower classifications as required
13.) Install and maintain transformer rated meters and instrument transformers
14.) Install and maintain external data recorders and associated equipment
15.) Install and maintain pulse meters, isolation relays, and associated equipment
16.) Test self-contained and transformer rated meters for proper operation and accuracy
17.) Test instrument transformers for proper operation and accuracy
18.) Investigate transformer rated service power quality problems, install event recorders and produce reports
19.) Visually inspect distribution system capacitors, regulators, reclosers, Alternate Feed Switches, and Line Voltage Monitors
20.) Disconnect and reconnect secondary services at the point of attachment
21.) Replace meter sockets and enclosures
22.) Install, maintain, and test intra-change, inter-change, and generating plant meters, instrument transformers, and associated equipment
23.) Install, maintain, and test satellite, land line, ethernet, and other remote metering and associated equipment
24.) Install, maintain and test loss compensated metering and associated equipment
25.) Install, maintain, test, and operate distribution system capacitors, regulators, reclosers, Alternate Feed Switches, and Line Voltage Monitors
26.) Install and maintain distribution grid control devices and automated metering and distribution grid network infrastructure
27.) Disconnect and reconnect secondary and primary services at the pole or transformer and replace primary fuses where applicable
28.) Perform a variety of special tests and inspections related to customer bill complaints, inquiries, and energy diversion investigations. Prepare related reports
29.) Assist with and perform distribution studies including inspection of distribution equipment, circuits, analysis, and preparing reports
30.) Operate and perform work from aerial lift devices
31.) Develop and provide employee training

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this position including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations. Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends. Work late shifts as needed. Work independently under semi-direct supervision in a safe-efficient, and productive manner Proficiently use computers and applications related to this position. Effectively communicate with other employees, customer, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.
Promote a positive image of the Company to customer and the general public. Comply with all aspects of the AEP Corporate Code of Conduct. Report hazards and abnormal conditions. Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees. Within 24 months of promotion to this classification, successfully complete the Company training and qualification program for this classification including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations
Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends. Work late shifts as needed Work independently under general supervision in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. Proficiently use computers and applications related to this classification. Effectively communicate with other employees, customers, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.
