Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we’re working hard to safely provide our customers with the reliable, affordable, clean energy they depend on. **What** **does a Meter System Specialist** **do** **for** **us?** A Meter System Specialist works in a collaborative, team-based environment to operate and manage the meter data acquisition and validation systems, notably the large customer data collection (MV90), automated meter reading (AclaraOne), meter data management systems (IEE), and the manual meter reading system (MVRS). Responsibilities will include executing the daily processes required to retrieve and validate routine billing data through the Company's meter reading and meter data validation systems. Including operation, process management and record retention. As well as working failure lists to resolution, monitoring process completion, identifying individual or group failures, performing process restarts and validation of file transfers. Along with assisting system administrators and field personnel in resolving issues by performing reading retries or creating and tracking field service orders and utilizing both departmental and peripheral systems (such as CR&B, OMS, switching orders or Mobile) to investigate and resolve errors. In addition to the duties listed above, the Senior Meter System Specialist is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of daily meter system processes. They ensure the processes meet the business requirements, are documented. They provide metering OT system and process training. They work closely with the Metering System Administrators to develop new system functionality into controlled services, ensuring that processes are documented, trained, and meet business requirements. They assist the system administrator with software upgrades by running test scenarios, reviewing output files, and validating interfaces and process results. They provide backup support for the system administrators, covering for others’ time off or during short periods when the administrator is over-committed. They are responsible for maintaining the translation desk work schedule and assignments. They will coordinate task assignments, ensure resources are available to meet the work schedule and adjust assignments as necessary to cover for FTO or absence. They are also a backup resource for completing the daily meter system processes and will stand call in the rotation supporting daily system operation. In addition to the meaningful work we do, we offer work-life balance, competitive pay and benefits, an employee incentive plan, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan, making Idaho Power one of the best employers in the state. **A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE** **Knowledge of:** + Personal computers, client server applications, databases, and operating systems interfaces + Meter data acquisition + Record retention requirements + Electric utility operations + Elementary algebra **Senior Metering System Specialist adds:** + Maintenance functions, metering business requirement and distribution electrical systems related to metering and metering systems **Preferred:** + Reading and billing process controls including SOX Controls, Idaho/Oregon PUC rules and regulations, quality system control, and data system controls + Database structures and query software (i.e., Crystal Reports, Access, SQL) + Software file formats, conversion methods and import/export methods **Skills in:** + Effective oral and written communication + Adaptability + Independent and collaborative task resolution utilizing critical thought and business relevant decision-making + Folder hierarchy navigation + Continuous learning + Medium to Advanced Excel skills **Metering System Specialist II and Senior adds:** + Computer operation skill including data bases, file configuration, data field connection and hierarchy + Skilled in process operation of all metering systems **Preferred:** + Advanced computer operation, automated online report review and task disposition + Metering OT system data base and file maintenance, i.e., process restart, file maintenance, export file creation, file import/export + Advanced skills in SQL scripting, Crystal reporting, and Access **Ability to:** + Work scheduled weekend/holiday days as part of a regular on-call rotation and participate in a regular on-call rotation + Perform efficiently as part of a team and contribute to team success + Comprehend and apply technical concepts to operate complex software, perform daily operations and contribute to issue resolution + Maintain accurate records **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** **Metering System Specialist I** **Education:** + High school diploma or GED **Preferred:** + Associate degree in computer science or computer/network systems **Experience:** + 3 years of experience with complex information, operations technology software or systems (ex. GIS mapping software, CR&B applications, Mobile Workforce systems, complex accounting software, report development tools, etc.) + A related associate degree, vocational technical certification or documented military training may be substituted for 2 years of experience **Preferred:** + 3 years of experience operating complex utility operations software or technical systems **Metering System Specialist II** **Education:** + High school diploma or GED **Preferred:** + Associate degree in computer science or computer/ network systems **Experience:** + 1 year of experience as a Metering System Specialist I **Preferred:** + 5 years of experience operating complex utility operations software or technical systems **Senior Metering System Specialist** **Education:** + High school diploma or GED **Preferred:** + Associate degree in computer science or computer/network systems **Experience:** + 3 or more years of experience as a Metering System Specialist I or II, with at least 1 year of experience as a Metering System Specialist II + A related associate degree, vocational technical certification or documented military training may be substituted for 2 years of experience **Preferred:** + Performing routine data base and file maintenance, system, and process issue resolution + Developing and delivering technical training + Advanced SQL scripting experience + Advanced Excel experience **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS** This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
