Spire is seeking Manager of Field Operations to work in St. Louis, MO. This position will be responsible for assisting the Directors of Field Operations in overseeing and coordinating various field operations work including construction, maintenance, pipeline, service, operational training when required, and assisting the management administration of company policy, procedures, and coordinating the daily operation of the Region.
Duties and Responsibilities Provides Company oversight of customer requested and Company required work executed by Company and Contract Crews following Spire’s standards. Assures protection of Company interests by inspecting and assuring Contractor/Company compliance with provisions, safety, operation and maintenance policies, practices, standards and procedures, and regulatory agency requirements.• Tracks the safety record of the department with regard to injuries, first aid reports, motor vehicle and equipment incidents, and all other safety issues and leads workforce to ensure all employees work safely to prevent or eliminate incidents.
• Provides direction and accountability to assigned employees with regards to implementing and accomplishing the department’s business plan and continuous improvement of business processes.
• Initiates, plans, and coordinates the training programs for Service personnel with the Training Department.
• Evaluate the region’s work load efficiency in several key categories and oversee efforts to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
• Track the productivity of each employee in the region to validate that departmental benchmark standards are being met
• Functions as a liaison with various municipal organizations, fire departments, police departments, realtor organizations, and code enforcement officials.
• Maintains a working knowledge of various federal, state and local regulatory agencies, regulations and compliance requirements pertaining to pipeline construction/service to assure continual company compliance, is an advocate for damage prevention and distribution system integrity.
• Reviews and approves various documents, such as personnel requisitions, accident reports, safety meeting reports, invoices, etc. Working knowledge of mobile workforce management system and related support and reporting systems.
• Maintain regular and frequent availability in all MOE territories in order to direct, assist in, or review the operation of the department’s daily routine and urgent or emergency activities, including performing job site inspections and/or direction of work and technician activities.
• Secures information for and prepares periodic required reports and records.
• Resolves first-step grievances and negotiates contractual issues.
• Directs management and union employees in after-hours and weekend operations.
• Represents and maintains an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
• Recognizes issues and responds, systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, understand consequences of decisions, seeks input from others and makes strategic decisions.
• Develops cohesive long term strategic plan to progress Field Operations departments in order to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives and goals.
• Supervise, manage and develop foremen, supervisors and administrators to further their skills, efficiency, performance and judgment.
• All other duties as assigned.
• A mix of normal office conditions, outdoors exposed to all weather conditions, in construction areas with uneven surfaces and in areas exposed to loud audible noises.
