We look forward to meeting you. **The Role** This position is responsible for the overall technical leadership and project management (cost/schedule/budget) of the Combat and Sonar systems group within the SSN(X) Electrical and Combat Systems department. The Combat and Sonar group is primarily focused on new design for systems on the next generation fast attack submarine, SSN(X). The group will also support new design efforts for legacy classes, including 688/21CL as opportunities arise. This position requires working collaboratively with multiple organizations, including NAVSEA, NUWC, PARMs, Electric Boat, and system developers. **Must Have** Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. **Nice to Have** The candidate should have experience with submarines and submarine systems; prior combat and/or sonar system experience is highly desirable. Prior design experience is preferred, but not required. Operational experience will also be considered. Previous supervisory or project management experience is preferred. Familiarity with submarine design process and design tools is preferred. The candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have experience in leading / managing complex projects and presenting results to leadership and customers.
