**Job Summary** The Manager, Oncology is responsible for the oversight and coordination of patient care, staff management, and operational functions within the Oncology department. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Manager provides leadership to nursing and support staff, fostering a collaborative environment that supports professional development, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency. **Essential Functions** + Ensures that patient care activities, including assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation, are completed according to established protocols and standards. + Serves as a resource for patient and family communication, addressing concerns, providing support, and coordinating follow-up care as needed. + Leads and manages nursing and support staff, including RNs, LPNs, nurse interns, and externs, by providing orientation, training, and competency evaluations. + Develops and implements staffing plans that align with patient needs and staff capabilities, ensuring appropriate coverage and resource allocation. + Oversees daily operations, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to clinical and safety standards. + Monitors compliance with accreditation standards, such as those from the American College of Surgeons and The Joint Commission, and updates related policies and procedures. + Participates in quality improvement initiatives by collecting, evaluating, and acting on data to improve patient care outcomes. + Supports budget planning, monitors expenditures, and implements cost-saving measures while maintaining the quality of care. + Manages billing processes, ensuring accurate charge capture to optimize reimbursement and financial performance. + Leads community-based cancer programs and engages with external partners to promote oncology services. + Ensures staff are trained and certified in emergency response protocols, including CPR, and monitors compliance with safety practices, such as patient lifting and infection control. + Performs other duties as assigned. + Complies with all policies and standards. **Qualifications** + Associate Degree in Nursing required + Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred + 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least two (2) years in an oncology setting required + 1-3 years of management or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting required **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff. + In-depth knowledge of oncology care, including patient assessment, treatment planning, and symptom management. + Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. + Proficiency in healthcare software and electronic medical record (EMR) systems. + Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. **Licenses and Certifications** + RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required + OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification or related certification preferred Equal Employment Opportunity This organization does not discriminate in any way to deprive any person of employment opportunities or otherwise adversely affect the status of any employee because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, citizenship, veteran status, or military or uniformed services, in accordance with all applicable governmental laws and regulations.
