Mgr Regional Sanitation
*Location: Hershey, PA * * Role Overview:* This position is a corporate subject matter expert (SME) for food manufacturing facility sanitation, hygienic design, and pest management programs. Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Global Sanitation, the Regional Sanitation Manager assumes ownership and responsibility for leading the development and maintenance of the Hershey QRC sanitation, hygienic design, and pest management policies and programs while executing assignments of very high complexity. The position has key responsibilities to assure adequate and clear communications (both written and verbal) with the manufacturing plants, regional leadership teams, Hershey management and QRC Center of Excellence. Assist in the development of global sanitation, hygienic design, pest management policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistency of implementation relative to world class food manufacturing standards. * Responsibilities:* 1. Provide leadership and expertise to Hershey internal manufacturing facilities with implementing and ensuring compliance to Hershey sanitation, hygienic design, and pest management standards. 2. Provide hygienic design support by direct QDR involvement with project teams or by providing guidance to plant projects to ensure new equipment and/or infrastructure meets Hershey requirements. 3. Support manufacturing productivity projects and troubleshooting through Lean Manufacturing tools such as RCO/SMED, RCA, and 5 why. 4. Support external manufacturing plants as needed. 5. Lead sanitation, hygienic design, and/or pest management knowledge development training sessions to cross functional teams across the organization to enhance skillsets. 6. Develop knowledge of new tools and technology in the sanitation, hygienic design, and pest management fields to identify how it can be utilized to enhance Hershey’s programs. 7. Lead the monthly plant sanitation service provider review and corporate quarterly business reviews ensuring 3rd party service is maintained at high levels. 8. Lead the Hershey global sanitation/pest management monthly connect. 9. Manage sanitation KPIs to drive improvements in sanitation, hygienic design, GMP, and pest management programs, services, responses, and corrective actions. 10. Conduct sanitation, pest control, and hygienic design assessments of supporting facilities to drive program improvement and compliance to standards. * Qualifications:* * Thorough understanding of food safety, food sanitation, hygienic design, and pest management. Thorough knowledge of sanitation and pest management food regulations and ability to implement in manufacturing facilities. Strong leadership skills, ability to lead projects and teams. Ability to work in a team environment and independently in a flexible work environment with changing priorities. Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills in verbal and written form with effective presentation skills. Knowledge of environmental monitoring and clean equipment swabbing programs. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization. Ability to develop self and others. Advanced knowledge of CIP/ACS systems. Advanced problem solving/troubleshooting skills. Strong auditing skills with corrective action plan development and execution. Advanced proficiency in computer programs / software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point. Ability to multi-task and prioritize on the fly. Ability to work with a minimum amount of guidance. Flexibility to adjust work schedule outside of core hours to support plant and business needs. Ability to travel minimum of 30-40%, including international travel, weekends, and/or overnight travel on short notice. Valid driver’s license and passport. Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate in English. Ability to speak Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese is preferred. PCQI certification is preferred. * Experience & Education: * * Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or other related Science fields preferred. Minimum of 5 years work experience in the food industry (Quality, Operations, Plant Quality/Sanitation, or Sanitation Auditing) The Hershey Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
