**Job Description:** **Job Summary** Responsible for supporting a proactive strategy through active media management and outreach to ensure that the company is consistently represented in the best possible manner in the local and national news media. Responsible for building relationships throughout various media channels to protect the company’s reputation on a national level to the public, the media, government agencies and NGOs; identifying and escalating issues where the company is at risk. In addition: + Role is critical to manage, protect and advance the reputation of Walgreens. + Manage executive external communications support, positioning, thought leadership and appearances for company’s Enterprise Operating Committee (EOC). + Support proactive PR and communications programs and campaigns around key company issues and priorities. + Coordinate and manage relationships with key external third parties. + Help execute communications strategy and support for high-profile corporate priorities with a direct impact on our business and standing, particularly in partnership with the Legal, Public Affairs andCorporate Social Responsibility teams. **Job Responsibilities** + Develops and deploys strategic, proactive communications that deliver the company’s message in regard to an initiative or issue. Prioritizes and deploys communications that responds to the initiative or issue in a manner that represents the company in the most positive manner. + Identifies and targets specific audiences for communications in regard to specific initiatives or issues and ensure that the company’s response or statements are appropriate and meaningful for the target audience. + Collaborates with leadership throughout the business to develop strategic communications for the initiative or issue to be communicated. + Counsel’s management on communications implications of the issue and the impact it could have on the company as a whole. + Researches innovation and external best practices to manage and translate a range of complex ideas, issues, and initiatives into strategic communication solutions. + Confers with subject matter experts in various internal departments and outside stakeholders to determine the appropriate internal and external communications for the situation. Formulates positions and strategies pertaining to the execution of the communications. + Maintains an awareness and detailed knowledge of the developments in the business, including major projects impacting the enterprise, corporate initiatives, trade relations initiatives, acquisitions/divestitures, and issues and controversies involving corporate reputation. + Tracks and monitors the effect of the communications to ensure continual process improvement. Ensures monitoring and reporting of media coverage to determine effectiveness of communications, track competitor news and find further opportunities for the company’s messaging. + Plans the communications and delivery methodology, and ensures execution of the communications strategy. + Develops external statements and presentations, media responses and presentations to be delivered by senior leadership.
