Microbiological Technician

The Microbiology Technician is responsible for carrying out day to day microbiological testing related to the production of aseptically packaged beverage products under the general supervision of the QA Supervisor/Manager. This role is responsible for setting up laboratory tests for microbial examination to include retrieving biological specimen samples and preparing them for testing as appropriate. Microbiology technicians assess whether specimens meet laboratory standards, document any quality issues, and ensure materials are properly discarded.

Essential Functions

Qualified individual is expected to review and report results of microbiological analyses in a timely manner. It is also required that they identify and communicate results that may require further investigation or discussion with a supervisor.

Technicians must know how to follow aseptic technique and follow Good Laboratory practices. A person in this role should be very knowledgeable of these guidelines and be able to practice them consistently.

Microbiology technicians may be responsible for keeping inventory of testing materials, ordering and maintaining FEFO (First Expired, First Out) of relevant materials. Micro techs are also responsible for laboratory cleanliness and organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:4 Years – Experience in Manufacturing Environment4 Years  – Experience in Microbiological Laboratory setting4 Years  – Experience managing people/projectsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent

Be able to engage with lab technicians or other departments to resolve any problems that might ariseTime Management – Expected to ensure sample turnaround times are met on time.
