Microbiologist

IDEXX is seeking a Microbiologist to join the Research and Development CytologyDx team.  IDEXX provides our customers analyzers that provide real time diagnostic results to veterinarians in their clinics.  This position will support the CytologyDx team in developing new products while working with technicians, chemists, engineers, software programmers, line of business, and quality assurance. 

What you can expect in this role:

Prepare materials, perform experiments, gathers data, carry out analysis and reach conclusions.  You will be expected to design experiments and write thorough protocols.

Document your experiments and other lab or production activities. Prepare reports and summaries and present results and conclusions to a technical audience.

Participate on and may manage teams, planning, and organizing team activities.

Collaborate and communicate with colleagues to provide work support, exchange information and ensure efficient processes.

Maintain knowledge of products (IDEXX and other standards) and procedures, developments in the veterinary microbiology field and industry.

Collaborate with various teams within IDEXX, including, but not limited to: Engineering, Technical Support, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Research & Development.

What you will need to succeed:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and 5-7 years of experience required or a Master’s degree and 3-5 years of experience required.

Experience working in a Microbiological laboratory with strong skills in maintaining colonies, antibiotic susceptibility, and organism identification.

Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills along with organizational skills and the ability to plan work. 

Demonstrated the ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.

To be able to take initiative and be accountable; focus on task at hand while being adaptable to changing situations, priorities, and tasks.

What you can expect from us:  

Salary range starting at $72,000 based on experience
