Job Title: Microbiology Lab Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Microbiology Lab Technician responsible for media preparation, sample logging, autoclaving, sterilization, pipetting, and micro-pipetting. This role involves microbiological analysis of process, finished product, and environmental samples. Additionally, you will support other Quality labs as needed. Equipment used includes VIDAS, VITEK, autoclave, pH meter, microscope, and vacuum filtration systems. The data generated supports manufacturing processes and quality control of finished products, with data entry into LIMS, SAP, MDE, and electronic Logbook.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare a variety of media and reagents for microbiological analysis.
+ Perform quality control evaluations on media and reagents received and prepared in-house.
+ Prepare test samples using microbiological techniques according to established procedures.
+ Log samples, set up tests, transfer tests, and analyze/report results.
+ Daily, check and record temperature of all refrigerators, freezers, and water baths in the Microbiology department.
+ Verify and record calibration of the top load balance used to weigh samples.
+ Post information in LIMS, SAP, MDE, Electronic Logbook, and Excel spreadsheets.
+ Verify and review data entries, maintain data & sample retention.
+ Maintain and verify calibration of laboratory equipment, reporting deficiencies/malfunctions to the Quality Manager.
+ Maintain a clean, well-stocked lab.
+ Write and update test methods and SOPs as requested.
+ Identify, record, and help correct nonconformities and potential nonconformities.
+ Participate in ongoing and annual training, SOP reviews, and proficiency testing as requested by the Quality Manager.
+ Participate in the established Quality System to maintain ISO standards in the microbiology laboratory.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in microbiology or related science
+ Previous microbiology experience; preferably from a GMP environment
+ Previous experience with aseptic technique, media preparation, autoclaving, pipetting, bacteria identification, gram staining, and sample logging is ideal.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelors degree in microbiology, biological, physical, or engineering sciences.
+ Experience with microbiology laboratory work and laboratory methodology.
+ Familiarity with aseptic techniques/equipment is a plus.
+ Ability to follow established test methods and SOPs.
+ Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing procedures.
+ Good troubleshooting skills, ability to work well with others, excellent communication and computer skills.
+ Customer focus with an understanding of customer needs.
Work Environment
The work setting is corporate research and development lab.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00
