Job Title: Junior Microbiologist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Microbiologist with a BS in Biology or Microbiology and 1-3 years of microbial testing experience in any industry except food. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, follow directions meticulously, and possess strong communication skills. This role involves maintaining culture collections, performing microbial testing, challenging products with inoculations, and preventing contamination by adhering to operating guidelines.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain and manage culture collections.Perform microbial testing including streaking samples and identification of organisms.Challenge products with inoculations of bacteria, yeast, and mold.Ensure prevention of contamination by following operating guidelines.Conduct viable counts and accurately record data.Submit detailed lab reports to the lab leader.Essential SkillsBS in Biology or Microbiology.1-3 years of microbiology testing experience in any industry except food.Proficiency in microbial testing techniques including streaking samples, preservative efficacy testing, and microbiological screening.Strong communication skills.Ability to follow directions and take feedback constructively.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to lift 10 pounds.Excellent initiative and teamwork skills.Work Environment

The position involves working in a small lab setting with two other microbiologists under the supervision of a lab leader. The lab is part of a larger facility with approximately 50 onsite employees, 20 of whom are in various lab roles. The initial contract is for a minimum of three-six months, with the potential for extension based on workload and performance. The facility offers a unique and beautiful work environment with large windows overlooking the river, promoting a culture where communication and teamwork are highly valued. The team is known for being friendly, supportive, and dedicated to training and development.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
