**Job Description Summary**
Summary:
Reporting to the Field Applications Sr. Manager, the Field Applications Specialist provides high-level technical and application training to BD Customers within clinical, public health, and industrial laboratory settings. This position has a primary focus on training in diverse settings; promoting sales of BD instrumented platforms and total system solutions, and assisting with on-site customer installation and troubleshooting.

**Microbiology Lab Automation Applications Specialist - St Louis, MO**
**Responsibilities:**
Implementation and Technical / Application Training
+ Conducts comprehensive user training on BD instrumented platforms and achieves customer competency, optimal utilization, and self-sufficiency
+ Collaborates with Technical Service and Support and Field Service to enhance customer experience
+ Provides expertise in all stages of the sales cycle by assisting sales associates in enlightening technical features and functions of BD Instrumented platforms
+ Ensures the fulfillment of and adherence to internal policies and procedures
+ Project coordinator of all installations to which he/she is assigned
+ Drives implementation process and full utilization of BD instrumented platforms
Sales and Marketing Support
+ Conducts product demonstrations while promoting product value to support the sales of BD instrumented platforms at trade shows, BD sponsored workshops, and customer sites
+ Assists local, regional, and national sales associates and management during the sales of BD instrumented platforms
+ Supports or participates in BD sponsored Webinars and Teleconferences
Technical Input to New Product Development:
+ Participates on project teams as appropriate, complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO 9000, Quality Procedures and PACE (Product and Cycle-time Excellence) Development protocols for new product development
+ Contributes to laboratory workflow productivity and other customer needs to maximize efficiency and efficacy of platform training
General
+ Ensures population and understanding of electronic Project databases and Service Intranet with content relative to Application business
+ Conducts training for BD associates in BD instrumented platforms as necessary
+ Responsible for managing assigned customer account bas
+ May travel outside their region to assist in supporting other territories, regions and areas
**Qualifications:**
+ B.S. Degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or equivalent, advanced degree desirable
+ 2+ years of Microbiology experience desirable
+ Knowledge of technical and workflow related aspects important to the discovery phase of system implementation within clinical and public health laboratory settings
+ Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills including effective internal and external communication and conflict resolution skills
+ Models effective training, education, and presentation/demonstration of products
+ Consistent professionalism in customer, cross-team/functional interactions with high concern for customer needs and expectations
+ Works well in team environment
+ Initiates and willingly accepts new assignments and successfully completes them
+ Knowledge and experience with Technical and Application support
+ Good working knowledge of various computer software applications
+ Works with positive attitude and able to communicate the departmental and organizational vision and goals
+ Constantly and persistently strives for driving excellence in technical and customer facing skills with team members
+ Consistent professionalism in customer, cross-team/functional interactions with high concern for customer needs and expectations
+ Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills
+ Willing and able to travel up to 75%
+ Ability to be on call during evening/weekend as needed
+ Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards
Preferred:
+ Training in "Train-the-Trainer" methods, instructional design / development, adult educational methods desirable
+ Demonstrates proficiency in application of BD instrumented platforms and software by uncovering customer’s needs, implementing customized solutions, and assuring rapid adoption
+ Familiarity with regulatory agencies (i.e. CLIA, USP, GMP/CGMP) and quality procedures are highly desirable
+ Knowledge and experience of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) are preferred

+ Understands the value proposition of BD instrumented platform and products while effectively providing demonstrations and other sales supporting activities promoting change management
Teaching/training:
+ Effectively instructs, observes, and evaluates trainees on medical equipment or devices consistent with an understanding of regulatory requirements; identifies gaps in learning and encourages optimal use; completes electronic training and service documentation
Project Management: Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to implement BD instrumented platforms including:
+ Preparing and completing action plans to industry and customer-service standards
+ Assuring projects are on-time, in budget, and within specifications
+ Determining system improvements and implementing change management
+ Managing from sales support to post go-live
+ Driving for results
