Job Description
We are seeking a Microbiology Lab Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will perform Bioburden testing on medical device products and support the Micro team. The role includes media preparation and sterilization utilizing aseptic techniques during sample preparation. The technician will also recognize malfunctions in laboratory equipment and either notify management or perform simple repairs. Responsibilities also include performing preventative maintenance and laboratory housekeeping, following all procedures related to data documentation, laboratory safety, and good laboratory practices. Training will be provided on USP 61, USP 62, LAL testing, and other microbiology techniques.
Responsibilities
+ Perform Bioburden testing on medical device products.
+ Support the Micro team.
+ Prepare and sterilize media using aseptic techniques.
+ Recognize and address malfunctions in laboratory equipment.
+ Perform simple repairs on laboratory equipment.
+ Carry out preventative maintenance and laboratory housekeeping.
+ Follow procedures related to data documentation, laboratory safety, and good laboratory practices.
+ Train on USP 61, USP 62, LAL testing, and other microbiology techniques.
Essential Skills
+ 1-2 years of microbiology experience (school/industry).
+ Bachelor's Degree in Biology or Microbiology.
+ Minimum 6 months experience with aseptic technique.
+ Preferred 6 months experience with Bioburden.
+ Minimum 6 months of GMP lab experience.
+ USP testing experience (food, pharma, device, etc.).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ USP-61 or USP-62 experience.
+ Experience within pharmaceuticals or medical device industries.
+ Experience with third-party testing labs and food micro labs.
Work Environment
The current Bio department has about 20 people on the team. The labs are separated and don't flow as well but work closely with the R&D and Chemistry labs. It is a very clean environment. The standard shift is the 2nd shift, Monday-Friday from 3pm to 12pm. The company is a manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies, serving hospitals, surgery centers, physician's offices, extended care facilities, and sometimes directly to consumers. The company is privately owned, has no debt, and offers significant opportunities for growth. The new 74,000 square foot lab includes Micro, R&D, Chemistry, Design and Verification, Calibrations, and Stability Lab teams all sharing space. The team also benefits from a budget for quarterly outings and a tight-knit group within the Micro team.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
