We are currently reviewing candidates who are highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist specializing in Microbiology. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex microbiological tests and procedures to detect, identify, and analyze microorganisms.

Our lab is located at the corporate headquarters campus in Pendleton, Oregon.

Starting Work Schedule: 6 AM – 5 PM Rotational Days - 4 days per week

Wage Range: Med Lab Scientist $34-38, Med Lab Technician $28-32 (Initial Placement Depends on Experience)

Highlights of Main Job Duties:

Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including culture and sensitivity testing, molecular diagnostics, serology, and microscopic examination.Identify and classify bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites using advanced microbiological techniques.Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment and instrumentation.Ensure accuracy and precision in test results through meticulous quality control procedures.Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to laboratory equipment and test procedures.Collaborate with healthcare professionals to discuss test results and their implications for patient care.Provide technical support and expertise to other laboratory staff and trainees.Develops and modifies procedures as needed.  Establishes and monitors programs, to ensure the accuracy of tests.  Participates in all aspects of proficiency testing.  Understands and adheres to HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to assure patient confidentiality. Performs administrative duties including excellent customer service to all patients, clients and employees.Attends work regularly and on time.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, or a related field.Licensure: ASCP, NCA, AMT or equivalent; or be eligible to sit for licensing exam in OregonStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

General Physical Requirements

Lab staff must wear appropriate protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, and face shield) at all times while in the lab and are regularly exposed to infection by handling potentially infectious samples. Physical requirements, in addition to willingness & ability to wear protective gear while working, are: 

Ability to sit and or stand for extended period of timesLift up to 25 poundsMobility to climb stairs on a regular basisMust be able to distinguish color and pass vision acuity test in compliance with CAP regulations

OSHA Category: This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
