Minimum experience and education: Candidates with a BS degree must have the minimum of 11 years or 132 monthsof work experience specific to the job description.  

If a candidate has a  Master’s degree, they still need a minimum of 11 years or 132 months of work experience but onlynine years or 108 months of experience specific to the job.  The other work experience to meet the 132 months does not have to be IT related.

Work experience while in college can be counted toward the overall years.

 

If no degree, work experience may be substituted.

Background clearance: All candidates selected will have to go through a Federal government background check prior to being able to start.  Generally, the background process takes between 3,4 or 5 weeks. The time is dependent on how quickly the candidate is able to complete the paperwork.

Candidates will obtain a Public Trust clearance upon approval.

 

Position Description:

 

The MicroStrategy Developer will be responsible for using MicroStrategy to build a critical Management Information Business Intelligence platform.  The developer will implement tasks related to creating complex attributes from expressions and fact expressions, creating MicroStrategy schema objects and application objects, developing user's ad hoc reporting requirement using Object Prompts and Hierarchy-in-template, creating dashboard analysis and ad hoc reports, utilizing MicroStrategy. Architect to create attributes, metrics, hierarchies and transformations, and performing performance tuning by utilizing MicroStrategy OLAP Services, Intelligent Cube, VLDB properties.  The developer will work closely with the Integrated Product Team Lead, Lead Systems Architect, MicroStrategy developers, QA engineers, and Business Analyst throughout the project lifecycle under minimum supervision of development lead. 
Skills Requirements:


Strong understanding and practical experience in the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC). 
Software design, development, testing data warehouse and business intelligence applications using MicroStrategy and Oracle databases. 
Work with Database Developer, JAVA developer, Business Analyst, DBA, System Administrator, and QA engineer to design and implement BI objects and reports required for various data systems. 
Design new complex attributes from expressions and fact expressions. 
Perform dashboard analysis and develop ad hoc reports. 
Propose MicroStrategy features for best design, customization, and user experience. 
Develop SQL, PL/SQL programs, and scripts to support various data operations required by applications. 
Optimize performance by utilizing MicroStrategy OLAP Services, Intelligent Cube, VLDB properties. 
Manage MicroStrategy artifacts in source code management system and deploy to DEV, QA, and Production environments. 
Development of test cases and coordination of activities to aid QA/Validation team as needed. 
Analyze issues & fix defects during SDLC, troubleshoot production issues, and respond to business users data inquiries. 
Produce Report design documents, test plans, and system requirements. 
Strong communication skills. 

Desired Skills:

Experience working with multiple database structures. 
Experience working with multiple BI tools. 
Experience working with multiple Data Modeling, Analysis and Design and Scripting tools. 
Experience working with ETL tools like Ab Initio is desirable.
