Microwave Engineer

Compass Point is hiring a Microwave Engineer with experience and expertise to support the DOJ Justice Management Division (JMD) Office of the Chief Information Officer, (OCIO). This position is responsible for supporting a team to develop DOJ wireless communications strategies and to coordinate wireless applications, spectrum management, and other wireless programs across the Department of Justice. They will specialize in the study and development of microwave technologies which are used by Law Enforcement for telecommunications. They perform a wide range of tasks including research, design, development, testing, and maintenance of microwave systems and components.
This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Washington DC.
**Responsibilities**
+ Researches, analyzes, develops, designs, models, and tests communications systems and equipment, including but not limited to networks, data links, digital radio, wide and local area networks, point-to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema.
+ Conducts studies on communications systems and equipment, such as present and projected volume of communications, effectiveness and adequacy of system, and estimated equipment costs.
+ Performs engineering studies to obtain data on new equipment and systems developments in the communications field and adaptability of equipment to existing systems.
+ Performs work under minimal supervision. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
+ Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to develop and implement design concepts
+ Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in microwave technology
+ Prepare technical reports and documentation for design and development processes
+ Design and develop microwave systems and components including transmitters, receivers, and antennas
+ Perform complex calculations to create plans and designs for microwave systems
+ Test microwave systems and components to ensure they meet design specifications
+ Analyze and interpret data from tests and use it to improve system performance and reliability
+ Troubleshoot and resolve issues with microwave systems and components
+ Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during the design and development process
**Qualifications**
+ 5 years of experience with microwave systems design and development
+ Knowledge of electromagnetic theory and RF circuits
+ Familiarity with RF testing equipment and procedures
+ Strong analytical skills to understand complex data and technical specifications, as well as to optimize system performance.
+ Eligible for Top Secret Clearance with SCI access.
+ Have demonstrated and utilized a knowledge of the mission, charter, roles, and responsibilities of U.S. Government agencies or Law Enforcement agencies.
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics or other related discipline
+ Certified Microwave Engineer (CME) or Certified Radio Frequency Engineer (CRFE).
