Overview Provides leadership in the development of professional nursing practice by providing administrative support and structure for the delivery of professional nursing care in the Department of Nursing and Patient Services. Accountable for strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems that support professional practice and achieve the nursing vision and organizational goals. Maintains 24-hour accountability for unit functions. The Nurse Manager provides leadership to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in nursing required. Current staff without MSN must obtain degree by December 2012 or as contracted by the VP/AVP. National nursing board certification in specialty area required. Current staff without professional nursing board certification in specialty area must obtain certification as contracted by the VP/AVP. Minimum of five years professional nursing practice experience required. Demonstrates leadership and management skills with knowledge and application of advanced professional nursing practice, CQI process, nursing care delivery models, health care delivery systems, and budgetary process.
