Power Engineers is seeking an experienced, energetic Mid-Level Electrical Engineer with a solid background in electrical engineering to support our substation design initiatives. You'll collaborate with our Substation Design teams in the Power Delivery Substation Department at our Atlanta office in Duluth, Georgia. A hybrid and/or in-office work environment is preferred. However, a remote role may be considered and is dependent on the individual’s level of experience and proven ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER’s mission statement and our culture. The Electrical Engineer is expected to support the Department Manager/Area Lead (DM/AL) in achieving the goals of the department, maintain POWER’s high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork and meet the needs of our clients.  This position is also responsible assisting with developing, maintaining and strengthening client relationships within the region. 

Support AL/DM with the management of relationships with alliance clientsDevelop and manage project schedules, budgets, and quality of assigned projectsPerform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage substations including, but not limited toOne-line diagramsSchematicsWiring diagramsSCADACommunicationsStation physical layoutsSections/ElevationsCable and conduit plans and detailsGround grid design and detailsFoundation plans and detailsStructural plans and detailsControl enclosure design and detailsLightning protection plansYard lighting plansBills of MaterialsInter-discipline coordination activitiesSpecify and select substation equipmentContribute to substation equipment specificationsConstruction supportFacility studiesSite visitsPerform QA/QC for deliverables to clientsSupport Project Manager and Project Engineer with project reporting needsSupport proposal developmentSupport the mentorship and training of other team membersShall understand and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designsOccasional travelRequired Education/Experience                                                                         Ability to function as a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer in our Atlanta office located in Duluth, GABSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, or equivalent technical education3+ years of experience in substation designExperience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standardsExperience filling the role of electrical engineer for several substation projects occurring concurrentlyExperience with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and WordDemonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, tracking and organizing many tasks of varying importance and sizeProven ability and desire to mentor and help othersStrong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelLegally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipDesired Education/Experience5+ or more years of experience in substation designExperience in 230kV through 500kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standardsProfessional Engineering license (PE) or in process of pursuing PEExperience managing people on a project teamExperience with MicroStation (V8 or newer)
