POWER Engineers is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work as a Substation Design Engineer in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Houston, Texas Office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within commutable distance of the office).
ResponsibilitiesPerform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage utility substationsOne-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project schedulingOccasional travel will be requiredRequired Education/ExperienceAbility to function as a Mid Level Substation Physical or P&C Design Engineer with the Houston location of our Substation Business UnitBSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power optionExperience in 15kV through 500kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standardsExperience in managing small project teamsExperience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrentlyEngineer in Training (EIT) registrationStrong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelLegally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipDesired Education/Experience5+ years experience in utility substation design as outlined aboveProfessional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred, or the ability to sit for the exam within 6 monthsManagerial and leadership skills a plusAt POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
