POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our San Antonio, Texas office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within commutable distance of the office).
ResponsibilitiesThe Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with our mission statement and culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its department goals, maintain our high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.
Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage utility substations including, but not limited to:
One-line diagramsSchematicsWiring diagramsSCADACommunicationsStation physical layoutsSections/ElevationsCable and conduit plans and detailsGround grid design and detailsFoundation plans and detailsStructural plans and detailsControl enclosure design and detailsLightning protection plansYard lighting plansConstruction cost estimates and contractsBill of MaterialsProject scheduling and coordinationSite visitsSupport QA/QC for deliverables to clientsOccasional travel will be requiredRequired Education/ExperienceBSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power optionExperience in 15kV through 500kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standardsExperience in managing small project teamsExperience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrentlyEngineer in Training (EIT) registrationStrong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelLegally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipDesired Education/Experience5+ years experience in utility substation design as outlined aboveProfessional Engineering license (PE) strongly preferred, or ability to sit for the exam within 6 monthsManagerial and leadership skills a plusOWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
