Mid-Level Substation P&C Designer Job Summary

POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a mid-level Electrical Designer with experience in substation protection and control (P&C) design. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Madison, Wisconsin office. This is an in-office position but flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).

Roles and Responsibilities Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Perform detailed design of one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA and communications. Familiar with conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, AC/DC service calculations and selection of substation equipment. The successful candidate shall be able to contribute to substation equipment specifications, proposal development, and project scheduling. Occasional travel will be required. Required Education/Experience Ability to function as a Mid Level Substation P&C Designer in our Madison, Wisconsin office.  Experience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards. Experience filling the role as substation designer for several projects occurring concurrently. Four (4) or more years’ experience in utility substation design as outlined above. The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship. Desired Education/Experience Experience in 230kV through 500kV substation design. Experience with BIM style design software (AutoCAD Electrical and Vault).
