Arts in Action is interviewing prospective Math and Science candidates for the 2025-2026 school year.   + Science Teacher:  Under the direction of the Middle School Director, serve as a single subject science teacher through planning, delivering and assessing instructional lessons aligned with the California Common Core Standards. + Math Teacher:  Under the direction of the Middle School Director, serve as a single subject math teacher through planning, delivering and assessing instructional lessons aligned with the California Common Core Standards. RESPONSIBILITIES:  + Encourage and inspire students to love science and learning + Promote the academic success and holistic growth of all students, collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design and instruction + Use ongoing assessments to adapt instruction to students’ needs and monitor progress + Meet with parents to communicate student’s strengths and areas of growth + Implement effective classroom management strategies based on restorative justice practices + Understand and organize subject matter for student learning by developing and implementing an appropriate Scope and Sequence + Engage and support all students in learning by planning standards-based lessons   + Provide varied instruction as appropriate in order to attempt to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students   + Participate and collaborate in grade-level, staff, and planning meetings + Build relationships with students, staff and parents + Develop as a professional educator and seek to improve competency by regularly participating in professional growth activities + Collaborate and support Assistant Teachers. Teaching at Arts in Action Community Middle School is unique in the following ways:  + Multiple structures for creating strong school culture, including AIA Creed, Advisory, robust special education program and supports, and Restorative Justice practices + Social Justice project based learning where students study current social problems and engage in actions to improve those issues + Full-time School Counselors and Behavior Interventionists on staff to support students and families with social-emotional learning and wellbeing + Scheduled daily teacher collaboration and common planning time during the school day + Assistant Teachers who are assigned to support classroom instruction and help lead intervention QUALIFICATIONS: + Single subject science or math teaching credential (support can be provided to transfer credentials from out of state) + Teaching experience preferred  + Ability to establish/foster a positive and safe school culture + Possesses a growth mindset and a love of learning WAGE AND BENEFITS:   The salary for this job is competitive and commensurate with experience; in addition we offer a competitive benefits package including CALSTRS participation and free medical, dental, and vision options. Salary range for fully credentialed math and science teachers is: $72,000-$101,800. Additional year 1 and longevity stipends are offered.
