The Senior Middleware Administrator – performs administration and provides operational support for enterprise middleware solutions and services including system availability, performance tuning, installation, security and troubleshooting. The senior-level professional is experienced in most aspects of middle tier administration and support. The skills encompass the full range of knowledge required within the middle tier specialty area. The administrator functions independently and produces results that meet standards of quality, timeliness and acceptability with minimal supervision and direction. This position provides technical and professional guidance to peers.

Essential Job Duties:
– Installs, configures and maintains middle tier solutions under limited supervision.
– Designs and implements middle tier systems and solutions.
– Manages moderately complex projects as it relates to middle tier systems.
– Receives and responds to incoming calls, pages and/or emails and may participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
– Performs analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of system problems under limited supervision.
– Recommends schedules and performs system improvements and upgrades.
– Prepares, maintains, and adheres to procedures for security, reporting and monitoring.

Job # 1 Minimum Requirements for Staff Level:
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a computer-related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
or Four years equivalent technical experience.
– Three years of middleware technology experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
– Demonstrated working technical knowledge of middle tier administration, solutions and services, including TCP/IP networking, database structures, and development life cycle.
– Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Mentors and provides technical guidance to peers.
– Assists in the creation of standards, processes, and capacity planning in areaof specialty.

Job # 2 Minimum Requirements for Senior Level:
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a computer-related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
or Four years of equivalent technical experience.
– Six years of middleware technology experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
– Demonstrated technical knowledge of middle tier administration, solutions and services, including TCP/IP networking, database structures and development life cycle.
– Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Demonstrated technical knowledge of LDAP and WebSphere.
Physical Requirements
– Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.
– Operate computers and other IT equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
– See and read computer monitors and documents.
– Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Demonstrated technical knowledge of middle tier, portal, TCP/IP networking and database structures.
– Application security focus with proven knowledge of industry best practices.
– Demonstrated server and system administration ability.
– Demonstrated technical knowledge of LDAP and WebSphere.
– Four years LDAP administration experience (IBM, OpenLDAP, Oracle Internet Directory or ActiveDirectory, in order of preference)
– Two or more years of experience with WebSphere.
– Demonstrated ability to solve complex system issues.
– Technical experience with scripting language(s).
– Strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment and decision making skills.
– Hands-on troubleshooting experience.
– Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
– Experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
– Demonstrated knowledge of applicable data privacy practices.
– Demonstrated knowledge of load balancing, clustering, and caching procedures and processes.
– Experience with performance tuning and monitoring tools.
– Business process and reengineering experience, as well as an understanding of the relationship between processes and policies.
– Proven knowledge of development life cycle methodologies.
– Self motivated and directed.
– Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
– Strong customer service orientation.
– Experience in a healthcare environment.
– ITIL certification.
Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
