List of Essential Duties
Ø Research systems and applications for the purpose of ensuring the availability and proper operation of services and systems as well as recommending improvements
Ø Deploy updates, enhancements, and new system functionality
Ø Perform system reviews, and make revisions and changes as needed to address any clarified or refined requirements
Ø Determination of root cause of incidents (configuration vs. defect)
Ø Liaison with appropriate teams for the development of corrective actions or viable workarounds to resolve incidents
Ø Respond to automated alerts on the health of systems
Ø Execute scheduled or unscheduled tasks relating to operational maintenance and monitoring of applications
Ø Perform routine audits of systems for the purpose of preventative maintenance of applications and reporting on their status
Ø Ensure all work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures.
Ø Perform testing to validate accuracy and validity of reports and data integrity – use manual SQL to validate to Data Warehouse and other data sources as needed
Ø Identify strengths and weaknesses in reporting design plans and suggest areas of improvement
Ø Develop test scripts and plans and lead testing efforts
Required:
Ø Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related field
Ø Minimum 5 years of experience supporting a variety of business applications and functions, which include Production and Operations Support and Product Development
Ø Experience with Working Offshore teams
Ø Experience with Enterprise Applications running on IIS 6.0/7.0
Ø Experience with .NET applications/IIS Server/Web Sphere/Web Logic
Ø Experience with supporting and maintaining packaged application systems
Ø Demonstrable knowledge of Windows 2000/2003/2008 server O/S
Ø General understanding of networking/LAN/WAN/DMZ concepts
Ø Ability to read and understand code (Code-competency) for diagnosis, escalation to tier 4 teams
Ø Knowledge of troubleshooting tools and techniques related to networks and systems i.e. remote access tools, Windows Support tools, connectivity tests, etc.
Ø Understanding of n-Tier application architecture concepts
Ø General knowledge of SQL2000 and SQL2005/2008
Ø Familiarity with database concepts, data extraction and reporting
Ø Familiarity with SQL DBMS interface and integrated tools
Ø Familiarity with database concepts, data extraction and reporting
Ø Creation of queries, running pre-defined scripts, configuration, security, and interpreting logs and traces.
Ø Experience in MOSS/SharePoint technologies and well versed with concepts
Desired:
Ø Working knowledge of the software development life cycle
Ø SQL query and report writing skills a plus
Ø Experience with Database Log shipping, Mirroring and Replication
Ø Experience in ITIL processes and Disaster Recovery
Ø Insurance industry exposure
