Military Analyst (Future Wargames)
Summary About the Position: Serves as the Chief of the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), Capability Development and Integration Directorate (CDID), SILENT QUEST Wargaming Division and expert subject matter consultant in support of Wargaming and Analysis. This position is located in the US Army Special Operations Command, Capability Development and Integration Directorate (CDID) Fort Liberty, NC. Responsibilities Plans and directs division operations. Exercises division-level staff responsibility for recommending and justifying the allocation of the division's resources to accomplish assigned missions and meet associated suspenses. Serves as Silent Quest Wargame Exercise Director and principal staff subject matter expert to the Capability Development and Integration Directorate (CDID) Director, USASOC, and Staff on the conduct of broad studies of future warfare. Monitors trends and drivers shaping the future operational environment and nominates refinements to concepts or proposes new concepts as needed. Reviews division products for accuracy, completeness of technical details and conformance to established policy, to include correspondence, and other documentation requiring the Director’s concurrence or approval. Manages and provides general supervision over a workforce of 2 civilian employees (GS13), and varying numbers of contractors/support personnel consisting of administrative/analytical staff. Oversees service contracts and supervises the actions of the contracting officer’s representative (COR). Supervises the conduct of broad studies and analyses of future conflicts in the far term (8-20 years) to identify issues and insights for ARSOF senior leadership. Ensures current and future capabilities analysis and integration activities meet ARSOF requirements and determines impacts on future force development programs resulting from major Joint service programmatic changes. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized which includes: 1) Conducting strategic planning and assessment of the future strategic operating environment to determine its impact on future force development for a military command (example: Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF)). 2) Maintaining oversight of future warfare products by reviewing, staffing, and/or refining information for compliance. 3) Representing a military command with in-depth knowledge and experience of current and future joint operations at wargames, Joint and Service experiments, and/or similar venues. 4) Developing wargames in support of a full range of studies including issues of future doctrine, future force development, and concept development. 5) Presenting information and decision briefings on a regular basis to General Officers or other high-ranking officials on Wargame concept generation and experimentation programs, requirements, actions, and issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Planning and Evaluating Research Strategic Thinking Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone, no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
