This position helps to provide optimal nutritional care to neonates and infants. The incumbent is responsible for the receipt of expressed human milk, proper storage, and preparation of individual feedings for neonates and infants cared for in the Newborn Intensive Care and Intermediate Care nurseries. This position has no responsibility for direct patient care.

**Responsibilities**
+ Receives milk from mothers who are dropping off and stores expressed mother's milk.
+ Scans all milk specimens at various intervals to ensure accurate tracking history.
+ Ensures appropriate education for proper labeling, transport, and storage.
+ Retrieves daily orders for feeding and prepares according to medical orders.
+ Distributes prepared milk feedings to the bedside refrigerators at the appropriate intervals.
+ Cleans and pasteurizes the equipment used for milk preparation and any other reusable feeding equipment daily.
+ Cleans and disinfects preparation areas.
+ Ensures that refrigerators in prep room and bedside locations are functioning within appropriate temperature ranges.
+ Accepts delegated tasks based on the appropriate training and certification.
+ Performs other unit-specific duties, as required.

+ Ability to perform essential functions of the job as outlined above.
+ Demonstrated excellent attention to detail.
+ Demonstrated basic math and computer skills.
+ Ability to manage time and prioritize well.
+ Ability to work independently, and with an interdisciplinary team.
+ Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
**Qualifications**
**Qualifications** **Required**
+ High school diploma, or equivalency.
+ Completion of a basic math competency test at a minimum of 85% accuracy.
+ Current food service worker's permit.
+ Completion of a hospital-provided Medical Terminology Course within one year of employment.
**Licenses Required**
+ Current Utah Food Handler Permit.

**Qualifications (Preferred)**
**Preferred**
+ Associate's degree in Nutrition, Health Care, related area, or equivalency.
+ Prior healthcare or nutrition related experience.
**Working Conditions and Physical Demands**
_Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation._
+ This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care. This position may be subject to chemical and equipment hazards and is standing and walking for sustained periods of time.
