Milk Technician - St. Joseph's Women's Hospital - Days

Summary:
Responsible for the preparation, distribution, inventory, management, labeling, storage, and delivery of infant feedings in the NICU, postpartum and pediatric units. This includes human milk feedings [mother's own milk and pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM)] as well as other additives and fortifiers. Preparation techniques must adhere to all sanitary regulations and standards established by regulating agencies and the health care facility, which should include compliance with policies related to the institution's lactation policies and procedures and human milk handling guidelines for enteral feedings. Requires the ability to read, write, perform necessary mathematical tasks and possess strong calculation, attention to detail, and customer service skills. Demonstrates competencies relative to infection control principles, appropriate technical calculation (weights and measures conversions, including metrics). Demonstrates knowledge of common medical abbreviations and terminologies. Responsible for operating equipment and ordering supplies required to prepare infant feeding.
