Mill Machinist
**Job Title: Mill Machinist** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled and experienced Day Shift CNC Mill Set-up Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in ensuring the precision and quality of our machined parts, working closely with our programming and manufacturing teams to meet production deadlines and customer specifications. **Responsibilities** + Set up and operate CNC machining equipment including vertical milling, horizontal milling, turning centers, turn/mill centers, and multi-axis machines. + Specialize in setting up mill turn sub spindle live tooling lathes with minimal or no supervision from start to finish. + Work closely with programming and manufacturing managers to provide constant feedback on cycle time reduction and machine optimization. + Provide guidance and instruction to other machine operators, machinists, or other personnel as assigned. + Collaborate with other departments, providing input to machining, CNC programming, CMM programming, engineering, inspection, manufacturing, and quality personnel. + Review and study CAD drawings, models, blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, sample parts, work instructions, job travelers, and set-up documentation. + Load and download CNC programs, offsets, and other data/information. + Select, align, and secure work holding/fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines. + Set up and operate machines on initial/trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. + Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as required. + Provide feedback and strategies to the programming department for corrections and improvements. + Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications and document in-process inspection data. + Submit 1st Piece Article to the inspection department for verification before continuing/running in production mode. + Log onto and off of job operations in the ERP system and sign off on the corresponding job operations on the job traveler. + Design and fabricate or provide support for tooling, cutters, work holding, fixtures, jaws, or procurement issues as needed. + Monitor and maintain machine coolants, lubricants, oils, fluids, grease, etc., and request maintenance services as applicable. + Document maintenance tasks performed on the machine’s Coolant Fluid Maintenance Log. + Lead and guide machine operators to continue production runs and other operations. + Recommend ideas and solutions for production improvement strategies to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and safe practices. **Essential Skills** + Intermediate to Journeyman level CNC Mill Machining experience. + Process-oriented mindset and willingness to adapt to established processes. + Strong sense of urgency to meet critical deadlines. + Experience with vertical and horizontal machining centers. + Ability to set up and operate CNC machines from start to finish. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with 5-axis CNC mills. + Knowledge of Mastercam or newer software. + Familiarity with Renishaw probe systems. + Experience working with Mazak CNCs is a plus but not required. **Why Work Here?** Work in a state-of-the-art facility with continuous investment in new CNC equipment. The facility includes a clean room and QC area, and has been operational for two years.
