Mill Manager

Weyerhaeuser’s Cottage Grove sawmill has an opening for a Mill Manager. The Mill Manager will lead the facility located in Cottage Grove, Oregon. As part of Weyerhaeuser Wood Products, this role reports to the V. P. of Western Lumber. The Mill Manager is responsible for safety, reliable manufacturing and on-time and in-full delivery of products to customers and ensures that business objectives are met for the site. Other responsibilities include fostering an innovative and engaged culture, leading in a high-performance work system, controlling product cost and inventory, and developing future leaders. This is a union facility with approximately 260 employees.

Key Functions:

The role is responsible for management of safety, environmental stewardship, quality, production, and costs associated with the mill’s operations. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Function as a role model for our core values: safety, integrity, citizenship, sustainability, and inclusion.Ensure an injury free culture is created by committed leaders and involved associates, backed by strong safety systems.Develop a people-focused work environment, recognizing that our people are the unique advantage we have in successfully achieving site and business goals.Engage associates in safely manufacturing lumber that meets customer needs and driving improvement in key business metrics.Coach and lead in the overall manufacturing process.Reliability, financial, procurement, productivity, environmental and other site stewardship responsibilities are the responsibility of the Mill Manager.Ensure that business and individual goal setting processes such as capital plans, expense budgets, safety strategic plans and performance management plans are developed and executed with excellence.

10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with proven record of positive. accomplishments in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and people development.High School Diploma/GED (or higher).Outstanding teaming and people skills that effectively engage teams to meet business goals, actively support individual and team growth/development, and ensure successful teaming/networking within the region, the Wood Products business, and the company.Strong business and financial acumen.Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates and leaders through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mindset.Proven record to effectively engage associates in behavior-based safety techniques.Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills.Strong planning and organizational skills.Able to work flexible hours as needed in a mill environment.

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in business, technical (engineering or other) or forestry/wood products disciplineManufacturing experience in Wood ProductsWorking knowledge of Lean, innovation and continuous improvement tools and processes

What We Offer...

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $142,000 - $213,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 25% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target. This position is eligible to be nominated for an annual long term incentive grant as well. The grant guideline for this position is $32,000, with a range of zero to 150% of the guideline amount. The value of long-term incentive grants is typically delivered in restricted stock units.

In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full time employees
