OVERVIEW
The Shift Supervisor oversees and is responsible for all operational activities on their assigned shift including planning, organizing, and directing shift operations to assure that plant reliability, safety, and environmental requirements are met. The Shift Supervisor must be able to exercise considerable independent judgment to adapt and apply operational guidelines to specific situations as needed. In the absence of regular site management, assumes responsibility for immediate site operations, safety, environmental compliance, and security of the plant.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates with other plant supervisors regarding day to day operating conditions Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate operations employees and contractors Must be able to prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports, maintain records and compose correspondence as required Assists the Director of Mill Operations in reviewing procedures and investigating operating incidents and abnormalities Ensures work is performed by all employees & contractors in a safe and responsible manner through the enforcement of all safety requirements and procedures Must be able to evaluate and verify employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques Capable of identifying employee development and training needs and ensure that training is obtained Capable of coaching and counseling employees on company personnel and safety policies Investigates accidents and injuries and prepare reports accordingly Must be able to communicate to immediate supervisor and/or managers as required in order to optimize resources for purposes of improving work planning Shift Supervisors are responsible for providing coverage for other shifts when another Shift Supervisor is on vacation, out sick or away from work for any reason.
WORK EXPERIENCES
Must have a high school diploma or GED, plus a minimum of 10 years progressive experience in a sugar mill facility including a minimum of two years as a shift supervisor or a B.S. Degree in an engineering field.

Ability to ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations. Ability to work in contrasting plant environments Ability to move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, wet and muddy areas, and uneven surfaces.
