Job Description

The qualified candidate will be responsible for reworking dull rolls. The candidate will work in the re-assembly department, taking parts of the rolls and putting them back together as per the work order. The work order will specify the oils to use and parts placement. The candidate will also check the quality of parts using micrometers and calipers. Additionally, the candidate will perform MIG welding, primarily using an Automated MIG welder. The role involves working with large rollers for paper and steel mills, using overhead cranes to move and set the rollers in the machine.

ResponsibilitiesRework dull rolls according to work orders.Assemble parts of the rolls based on work order specifications.Use micrometers and calipers to check the quality of parts.Perform MIG welding using an Automated MIG welder.Use overhead cranes to move and set the rollers in the machine.Work with large rollers for paper and steel mills.Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including the use of safety glasses and steel-toe boots.Essential SkillsAbility to tear down and rebuild motors.Proficiency in using micrometers and calipers.Experience with MIG welding.Strong time management skills.High School Diploma.Ability to work from work orders and meet tight deadlines.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in troubleshooting, electrical work, carpentry, and maintenance.Knowledge of conduit, mechanical systems, blueprints, hydraulics, and pneumatics.Experience with preventive maintenance and installation.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The plant is a bit crowded and can get hot in the summer, reaching up to 110 degrees. The workspace has a metal and oil smell, similar to a mechanic's garage. This is an open warehouse environment with 15+ large roll machines, and all rolls are moved by overhead cranes. The company operates three shifts and is a non-union workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Joseph, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00
