**Job Title: Welder/Boiler Maker** **Job Description** We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Boiler Shop team as a Welder/Boiler Maker. This position offers the opportunity to work in a unique facility, performing custom fabrication work. The ideal candidate will possess experience as a welder, fabricator, or mechanic and have a strong work ethic, natural curiosity, and a desire to learn. **Responsibilities** + Weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals using SMAW/GTAW/FCAW welding processes. + Brazing and soldering ferrous and non-ferrous metals. + Cut metals using oxy-fuel or plasma cutting techniques. + Form, cut, grind, and bend metal using manual and power tools. + Operate machinery such as forklifts, telehandlers, and manlifts. + Perform pipe and steam fitting tasks. + Rig and lift materials using overhead cranes. + Read and interpret mechanical drawings. + Operate basic machine tools like drill presses and band saws. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency in welding, rigging, and fabrication. + Self-motivated with a strong desire for challenges. + Excellent problem-solving skills. + Ability to work well both independently and in a team setting. + Commitment to safe working habits. + Ability to keep the workplace clean and organized. + Appreciation for history and old machinery. + Ability to multi-task and plan work to meet deadlines. + Proficiency in basic mathematics. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + AWS welding certification. + Experience working in a railroad environment. + Experience with machine tool operation (manual or CNC). + CAD or CAM software skills. + Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems. + Understanding of steam locomotives. + Familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration regulations. + Knowledge of ASME or NBIC codes. + Formal training or degree in relevant skills. + Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office products. + Valid driver's license. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy benefits such as participation in their Retirement Program, which offers a federal pension system with full vesting after 5 years and eligibility for retirement after 30 years of employment or at age 60. Work often occurs in areas with restricted movement and requires personal protective equipment.
