GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs activities to maintain building structure and related equipment such as overhead doors, dock plates, dock barriers, dock locks, windows, lock functions, security systems, fire systems, plumbing systems, etc.Partners with management, facilities, and vendors to complete assignments.May act in a lead capacity and provide direction to other employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Actively participate and contribute to systems and/or equipment process design and improvements.Recommend and is involved in systems and/or equipment modifications with management and engineering.Conduct activities using various mechanical tools and materials.Contribute to plant layout to facilitate the moves, relocation, and installation of plant machinery, manufacturing and/or facilities- related equipment.Direct contractors in the maintenance and repair of facility infrastructure and related equipment.Lay out and construct sheet metal parts such as guards, hoods, chutes and trays.Make contact with and work effectively with a large variety of contractors in order to complete assigned work.Perform a variety of installations, repairs, assemblies and construction of a mechanical nature.Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.Perform equipment leveling, assembling, and mechanical installations.Recommend spare parts for inventory to provide equipment reliability.Service and maintain sprinkler systems, pumps and motors.Service, maintain and install plumbing systems including domestic water, storm drain, sanitary drains, rest-room fixtures and kitchen fixtures.Support all environmental and recycling efforts including the disposal of hazardous materials.May need to be HAZMAT certified. Work with HMI tool crib and suppliers to procure parts and materials for work order completion.Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.Work with internal business partners to ensure effective and timely machine changeovers, set-ups and projects. Licenses and Certifications / Skills and Abilities

High school diploma or equivalent.Must be a Licensed Millwright Journey person or have a Skilled trade License in a related field.Proficient in reading and understanding blue prints, drawings, diagrams and equipment manuals.4 years successful work experience as a Millwright and or related field.Continue education by attending classes providing updated information on new codes/standards related to job.Demonstrated sound knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical principles including pumps and motors.Must demonstrate excellent problem solving skills and ability to read blueprints/technical specifications.Excellent verbal and writing skills.Ability and willingness to participate in continuing education both internal and external training.Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.Ability to work weekends and perform call-in work as business needs require.Must have or ability to obtain an HMI AWP license, personal cart and hi-lo license.Ability to travel between HMI sites and have a valid Michigan driver's license.Demonstrated ability to use and/or learn computer skills for various HMI applications including HMI's maintenance asset tracking software.Demonstrated project management required.Work experience in a leadership capacity necessary.Technical leadership ability to bring about positive change and influence change in the technical environment.Demonstrated technical aptitude, initiative, and leadership abilities required for this level.Some overnight, and possibly overseas, travel required for technical training.Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.Additional Skills and Abilities
