Summary: The Millwright B/Mechanic with autonomy, is able to set up, adjust and maintain all/most plant equipment with responsibility for respective production and quality. Performs duties with proficiency required to deal with exacting tolerances. Aids and/or trains mechanics of lesser or equal classification. May be required to supervise personnel/contractors associated to maintenance/capital projects.

Qualifications:

Performs varied mechanical duties such as dismantling, rigging, repairing and installing pulleys, power shafts, hoists, conveyers and other facility equipment. Starts up and shuts down equipment in line with company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines. Installs and/or changes the layout of equipment in the facility. Uses blueprints and reference journals in conformance with applicable codes and safe operating practices. Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Reviews work planning schedule and makes repairs, changes or upgrades in a manner as to correspond with and/or minimize production down time. Tests equipment for proper operation after repairs, changeovers or excessive down time. Performs quality welding in all positions for both plate and pipe. Operates drill press and other tools in situations where precision tolerances are critical. Repairs conveyor belts utilizing appropriate splicing processes. Performs layout and fabrication work. Performs civil construction work relating to machine and equipment foundations. Repairs, assembles and/or disassembles gear boxes, pumps, transmissions and other machinery in accordance with proper specifications and techniques. Performs flat welds and non-critical vertical welds. Performs basic pipe fitting as applied to threaded and welded joints. Reads and correctly interprets information contained in equipment and vendor manuals. Uses cutting torch to accomplish freehand cutting of metals and/or heating of parts. Provides valve/bearing maintenance inclusive of packing, lubricating and replacement/repair. Performs basic layout, equipment rigging, some minor machinist duties most commonly used power tools. Properly lubricates assigned plant/shop equipment as per routine schedule. Cleans and washes equipment and machinery. Scrapes paint, grease and accumulated material from equipment. Responds to daily calls and emergency equipment repair call outs as required. Sharpens and reshapes drills, chisels, scrapers and redresses rough grinding wheels. Ensures that work areas are left in a clean and safe fashion. Ability to safely and efficiently use hand tools and power tools. Satisfactory work record. The ability to work in tight spaces, hot, wet, dry and dusty environment(s), climb ladders/stairs, ride man lifts and retain a high degree of physical stamina for extended hours. Must be willing to work in high areas. Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Minimum of five years related experience in an industrial setting. PLC experience preferred. Ability to perform duties in a productive and quality manner with minimal supervision.
