As part of the Water distribution department the candidate will perform repairs and maintenance tasks, in a safe and competent manner, on machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, pumps, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical valves, pipes and pipelines, pneumatic tools, metering systems, equipment, production and fabrication machines to ensure the safe and continued operation of the raw water system pumping plants including the transmission and distribution systems by performing the following daily duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Completes routines equipment maintenance, inspections, testing and repairs in a safe and workmanlike matter to comply with predictive maintenance plans. Measures, cuts, treads, welds, assembles and installs various types of piping and pipelines both under and above Lays out, fits and welds fabricated, cast and forged components for repair or Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of Performs routine vibration analysis of rotating machinery as part of a predictive maintenance program and evaluates results to determine corrective requirements. Examines form and texture of parts to detect Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional Adjusts, lubricates and cleans the functional parts of mechanical Repairs or replaces defective Install special functional and structural parts in mechanical devices. Operates devices to test their Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, oxygen/acetylene cutting torch, arc welder, TIG welder, plasma cutter and other metalworking tools to fabricate and/or repair parts to dimensional Operates cranes and forklifts to facilitate system repairs and material Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work Dismantles and moves machines for inspection and Assembles and installs equipment such as pumps, motors, and Performs alignment rotating machines and Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundations or other Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment as part of a predictive maintenance Installs and repairs pipelines and Other duties as

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Three (3) years journeyman level experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience including an apprenticeship program certificate.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Fluent English communication skills are essential to be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and relate ideas and concerns before groups and/or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Required

Must possess a valid State of Nevada driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Preferred

First aid/CPR training; OSHA confined space entry and competent person training, OSHA rescue retrieval training; OSHA forklift training, NACB bridge crane operator. AWS welding certification for plate and pipe.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and working in confined spaces; such as excavations, trenches, vaults or manholes. The noise levels at some work environments may be loud, and require PPE.  The employee may be required to perform work at elevated heights.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Completes the proper reports and actions required by the location's operating policies. Provides the guidance and coordination required for the remedial repairs and major equipment overhauls and operations. Provides 24/7 coverage.Is available for on-call Overtime and on-call rotations. Include work after regular work hours, weekends and holidays.
