The Institutional Client Group (ICG) is responsible for driving the firm’s strategy and business development efforts with institutional investors and consultants, globally. As an Associate, the candidate will report to ICG’s Head of Business Management and work in close partnership with ICG team members, investment professionals, and other key stakeholders across the firm in a range of responsibilities related to servicing and growing the client business. In short, the Associate will partner with senior team members in a unique dual-purpose role that: 1) contributes to the success of critical strategic initiatives, and 2) supports all facets of business development. More specifically, some key areas of focus for this job include assisting with various business strategy initiatives, sourcing prospective investors, preparing for and attending in-person and remote sales meetings, working with internal investment teams to respond to prospect inquiries, conducting data analysis, and summarizing and presenting key findings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate meetings, calls, and other prospect activities including logistics, presentation materials, briefing memos, meeting notes, and follow ups to help win new business and grow AUM.
* Liaise with investment, performance, and research teams to collect information needed for investor requests demonstrating strong client focus and responsiveness.
* Maintain client/prospect database including upkeep of prospective company and contact info, entry of meeting notes, tracking of opportunities, etc. by leveraging Salesforce.com functionality.
* Coordinate across functional groups to identify and consolidate key updates for senior leadership review.
* Summarize large datasets to extract and present meaningful observations, insights, and trends.
* Conduct quantitative analysis to assist in recommendation and decision-making processes.
* Utilize industry databases and websites to uncover opportunities for prospective clients to invest in MIM strategies.
* Identify areas for improvement in existing processes.
* Special projects and ad hoc requests as needed.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
* 3-5 years of related experience in asset management.
* Series 7 & 63 licenses required within six months of service at MIM.
* Thorough analytical skills with the ability to creatively and professionally present data in new ways.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Understanding of financial markets, as well as the role of consultants and institutional investors.
* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including an ability to execute pivot tables and v-lookup formulas in Excel.
* Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
* Self-starter with a drive to succeed, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Highly motivated team player with a collaborative mindset and strong interest in building a business in a complex and performance-oriented environment.
* Strong active listening skills.
Preferred:
* Institutional asset management experience.
* Fixed income, private asset, real estate knowledge base.
* Knowledge of Salesforce.com.
