Position OverviewResponsible for the management of regulatory compliance for all Shelly mining properties in the Southern Division and providing support to the mine planning department by analyzing data, providing reports, creating maps, and preparing technical documents. The role will also support the operations and technical services group with maintaining and renewing permits, reserve analysis, reclamation planning, and wildlife site certification.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Mining and Environmental Compliance
Manages and submits documentation required by Ohio Department of Natural Resources, United States Geological Survey, and other agencies to ensure good standing of active and inactive mine sites in the Shelly Company’s Southern division Coordinates with environmental and legal consultants to complete and submit wetland and zoning permits. This encompasses preparing documentation for submittal and presenting information to internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates with government agencies on required compliance issues Provide technical expertise and recommendations in the supervision of reclamation activities for both active and inactive sites Facilitates agreements with mine sites’ neighboring landowners Maintain and support existing and future lease agreements Assist in maintaining certification status of wildlife sites and coordinating events
Mine Planning
Assist and support short, medium, and long-range mine planning activities Assist and support surveying, planning, and design stripping, land and tree clearing of mine sites Plan, coordinate, and conduct exploration projects for existing and Greenfield operations Assist in acquisitions and sales of property
Project Engineering
Works with management and mine site professionals on other issues as needed

Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Code of Business Conduct Ability to perform under pressure to complete tasks accurately and on time Highly developed oral, verbal, and written communication skills and an ability to work with management and peers Capability to present plans to wide array of audience Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required Ability to be a self-starter Ability to perform and prioritize short- and long-term expectations with minimal direction/oversight as needed Mentor less experienced members of the team Share and document knowledge that promotes the current and future success of the engineering department as well as the company as a whole Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees; employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule Ability to obtain Part 107 Drone License Certification Must be willing to travel and work away from home regularly Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or associates degree in engineering, geology, earth sciences or equivalent preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with MS Office product suite and experience with CAD preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require protective equipment.
