**Job Summary**
• This position is responsible for the overall management of the operations and/or maintenance departments through effectively utilizing personnel, equipment and other resources in a safe, reliable, efficient, environmentally sound and cost effective manner in support of the business unit’s performance measures.
**Job Description**
Key Roles & Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
• Manage the overall operation of the mining equipment and facilities to ensure cost effective and timely utilization of personnel, equipment, and other resources to meet the requirements of the site fuel plan.
• Implement and enforce safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and increase employee safety awareness.
• Manage operations and/or maintenance departments to comply with all environmental and regulatory statutes.
• Direct a multi-skilled, bargaining unit workforce through direct reports to provide the supervision, safety management, labor relations, and training and development required to ensure the safe reliable and efficient, long-term operation of the Mine.
• Develop and manage the portion of the O&M Activities Budget. Also, as required, implement the adjustment of the budgets when necessary due to unplanned events in Mining.
• Interface with Plant and Mining vendors to ensure the removal and proper disposal of by-products on a daily, monthly, and annual basis in a cost efficient and environmentally acceptable manner.
• Team with peers, supervisors, subordinates, and representatives of other functional areas of Luminant establish, modify, and coordinate corporate business unit, and function level policies and procedures through standing committee and/or adhoc task team assignments.
• Effectively interface with support staff and other Luminant Mining personnel to ensure consistent work practices and sharing of knowledge to optimize efforts in performing operations activities.
• Participate in special projects and committee assignments as requested.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
• Bachelors degree or higher in business or engineering, or eight years in related field
• Five (5) years proven supervisory/management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets.
• Knowledge of mine operations, equipment, as well as applicable Company policies, State and Federal regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership experience that promotes achievement, goal setting, and supervising diverse work groups.
• Related experience that promotes development in the areas described by the major accountabilities and key competencies of this job.
• Computer skills demonstrated at a proficient level.
