Mine Training Supervisor

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. 

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Mine General Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the administration of training for all Mine Department personnel while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values. 

Job Responsibilities

1.    Create and administer training programs for all areas of the pit.
2.    Ensure that all training records are tracked and accurate.
3.    Maintain mine department headcount. 
a.    Work with recruiters to post job requisitions
b.    Screen candidate resumes
c.    Conduct in person interviews, as well as video interviews using Microsoft Teams.  
4.    Direct supervision of Mine Department Onboarding and Drill Trainers.
5.    Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct. 
6.    Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
7.    Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
8.    Works without risk or harm to self and others. 
9.    Punctuality and regular attendance required.
10.    Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
 

Education and Experience

1.    Strong knowledge of all areas of pit equipment and operation.
2.    The ability to train other employees effectively. 
3.    Strong organizational skills.
4.    Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment experience in the mining industry.
5.    Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills. 
6.    General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
7.    Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing Microsoft office suite; Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Also a willingness to learn and navigate Power BI for tracking and reporting purposes. 
8.    Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
9.    Must possess or can obtain an MSHA Blue Card.
10.    Must be willing to obtain a SUAS Remote Pilot license (Drone License)
11.    Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team. 
12.    Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
13.    Requires valid driver’s license.
