Chemours is seeking a Mining Engineer to join our growing Mining team! This position will report directly to the Minerals Engineering and Mine Strategy Manager at either our Starke, FL and MacClenney, FL locations or our Jesup, GA and Nahunta, GA locations.
The Mining Engineer role is a full-time position that will support the mine planning team and operations teams by analyzing data, developing mine plans, creating maps, and leading projects. This role will include key communications with multiple mining operations divisions to provide mapping, planning, geologic, and engineering support.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide engineering, planning, and other support as assigned to mining operations
Responsible for interfacing with management and operations personnel to developing medium and long range mine plans, tailings plans, and mine site utility plans to ensure low cost, high volume mineral production.
Ensure compliance to all MSHA, Environmental and company rules and policies
Develop 6 month to 3 year mine plans (Medium Term Plan) which is in line with the long term plan and strategy
Provide GIS maps including forecasting, topography, permitting, reclamation, monthly and annual reporting
Support and provide weekly, monthly, and annual reports including maps, volumes, acres
Develop cell designs for water containment while following permitting standards
Design and implement mining processes with associated infrastructure, pumping and electrical layout plan
Modeling mineral deposits using various software
Collect and manage assay samples for production and metallurgical calculations.
Perform borehole drilling and collect samples on active and greenfield sites
Support site annual and quarterly royalty calculations and maintain relations with landowners, the community and customers
End to end Yield Analysis
Learn aspects of Mineral Sands mining and keep up to date with mining practices
The following is required for this role:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering
5+ years of Mine Engineering experience
Strong GIS Mapping skills
Strong communication skills, analytical skills, customer service skills, and leadership capabilities
Superb time management skills with ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects
Strong problem solving skills and experience developing solutions in a team environment
Mastery of Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, Vulcan or AutoCAD software experience desirable
The following is preferred for this role:
7 years or more experience in surface mining industry
