Mission Critical Program Manager

Eaton’s Electrical Sector – Electrical Engineering Systems & Services Division is seeking a Mission Critical Program Manager.  The preferred location for this position is Raleigh, NC where the group is based, but remote work in the US Eastern time zone could be considered.  Up to 50% travel is expected. 

 

We at Eaton are innovating future products with a focus on global sustainability megatrends: Energy Transition, Electrification, and Digital Enablement.  As the Mission Critical Program Manager (MCPM), you will be a vital member of the Project Services Organization in the Electrical Engineering Services and Systems Division. You will serve as the primary leader for the Mission Critical business which is responsible for UPS centric turnkey projects. This includes bid/spec and design build solutions, for federal, government and commercial customers. You will lead teams within Engineering, Applications Engineering, and Project management.  Ultimately, you will be the P&L owner for this business with an annual revenue target of ~$50M.   

 

You will also manage government contracts such as the PCCIE MAC with the US Air Force, various government agencies, GSA projects, and be responsible for projects globally. You will have direct leadership responsibility for vetting projects, collaborating with the government sales team, and evaluating proposals for margin and competitiveness. You will ensure safety is the top priority and that quality, financial, and growth objectives are achieved, and that the organization continues to have the leadership needed to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. You will help set the target markets, customers, and growth objectives, and deploy product/process improvement initiatives and share best practices throughout and across the program. 
 

 

What you'll do:


•    Act as the primary profit and loss owner for the Mission Critical Program business.  
•    Partners with finance and the Project Services Business Unit Director to develop forward looking profit plan and monthly forecasts with accuracy so that the operation meets these numbers on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis.   
•    Responsible for reviewing/submitting inputs for budgeting and procurement of capital equipment for the business. 
•    Ensures the PMs manage their projects efficiently, executing cost control, leveraging subcontractors, managing deliverables, and maintaining of bid margin on projects.   
•    Partners with Operation Support Team and Credit Department, resolves terms & condition issues with the contracts department, and works with collections.  
•    Partners with compliance department for effective time entry and reporting to the federal government for the Mission Critical Team. 
•    Ensures strong collaboration with sales and operations management to ensure orders, top line sales and bottom line profit objectives are met. Keep current on the trends and significant issues providing direction for planning processes.  
•    Ensure the team maintains effective relationships and high level service to internal and external customers.   
•    Assure an effective and skilled team through recruiting, assessment of talent (find gaps and follow action plans to fill gaps), training & development, goal setting, communications, performance appraisal, and conformance to applicable company policies and standards. 
•    Provide leadership and direction to ensure professional growth for employees and support retention strategies for the Mission Critical Team.   
•    Assure all team members view safety as the top priority and ensure all employees who work in low, medium, and high voltage work environments are aligned with the zero-incident culture while following the lifesaving rules.  Assure strict compliance with safety policies, develops and deploys safety programs, assure safety equipment resources are available and properly tested, provide direction for proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. 
•    Assure the security and effective allocation of company resources and assets. 
•    Work across all Eaton organizations to identify synergy opportunities for the entire Eaton Organization in the Federal Market. 
•    Manage government contracts, such as the PCCIE MAC and others. 

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 
•    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. 
•    Ten years of relevant industry experience with at least five years of that experience in managing and leading project managers, construction managers, and application engineers; OR ten years of management experience in another service type field. 
•    Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain access to military or government facilities. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 
•    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. 
•    Five years of experience working with Government Agency & Contract vehicles. 

•    Experience leading turnkey projects in the power distribution space. 

•    Experience working with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) technology a plus. 
•    Experience with electrical safety practices and procedures. 
•    Hold or have ability to obtain a government security clearance. 

 

POSITION CRITERIA: 
•    Financial knowledge and business acumen - P&L experience 
•    Knowledge of UPS systems, power distribution and control products, as well as field service practices and procedures 
•    Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships and resolve commercial issues 
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively lead people. 
•    Ability to communicate thoroughly with varied audiences (Example: Project managers, construction and products, design engineers on standards, specification, submittals, cost proposal writers on margins and pricing, and support staff) 
•    Incumbent must possess the following skills and knowledge to successfully perform in this function: 
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication/presentation skills 
•    Broad understanding of marketing and business planning 
•    Strong analytical skills 
•    Practical understanding of accounting principles and revenue recognition 
•    Broad understanding of market channel relationships and processes 
•    Ability to navigate contractual language, government protocol and terms and conditions 
•    Strong understand of code requirements, application of products, standards for critical power systems and data centers. 
•    Ability to quickly analyze, evaluate, and determine course of action in solving customer needs. 
•    Ability to mentor and support PM’s, AE’s, Design Engineers in their perspective areas of expertise.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $141000.03 - $206800.04 a year.  This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
