BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Deputy Program Engineer Manager (PEM, Chief Engineer) to join the Engineering Leadership team on an exciting Air Force program within the mission planning organization, guiding a multi-disciplinary team in an Agile, fast-paced development environment for the Mission Management and Autonomy portfolio under Mission Systems. This program supports air combat software operations complex routing algorithms, radars and surface to air missile systems, and air vehicle mission planning. The qualified candidate will partner with the Program Leadership to ensure smooth program execution, strong team building, defending work share and growing scope. The candidate demonstrates proven execution of a full-scale software program through excellent risk assessment, outstanding leadership, and strong decision making with solid analysis skills. The Deputy PEM provides technical responsibility and leadership to cross-functional design teams through the design, development, fielding, operations, and support of the system. The Deputy PEM represents the technical team to project managers, PTLs, functions and executive leadership, and provides complementary responsibilities for developing the overall technical solution for a product. The Deputy PEM is expected to provide management support to the design, development, test and verification elements of the program. It is expected that the Deputy PEM will represent the Voice of the Customer for system design, technical performance, and other system needs, as well as provide technical stewardship of the engineering effort for the entire program. It is also expected that the Deputy PEM will mentor under the current PEM and develop a plan to take over as the engineering lead for the program. _Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status._ **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Bachelor of Science degree in engineering/technical discipline, and 10 year(s) related experience or equivalent experience, training and/or certifications + Demonstrated leadership skills (soft skills, strategic thinking, business acumen, supervisory experience, building teams, building customer relationships) + Experience with complex routing algorithms, radars and surface to air missile systems, and air vehicle mission planning. + Experience with the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS), Next Generation Open Mission Services (NOMS), and or JMPS Open Mission Systems (JOMS). + Experience leading IPTs, projects, and/or programs consisting of ground-system SE, SW development, and IV&V functions and managing programs with competing/conflicting resource requirements + Proven execution of a full-scale program through excellent risk assessment, outstanding leadership, and strong decision making through analysis + Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to diagnose, resolve complex problems and to develop improved methods to increase program efficiency + Experience with customer/stakeholder communication, management, relationship building, and customer satisfaction + Proven ability to garner the trust of Customers, influence government decisions and a positive leadership style + Proven written and oral communication skills, business intelligence skills + Proficient analyzing customer needs, and reviewing user stories and technical tasks to achieve various Agile objectives and iterative development schedules + Deep analytical and problem-solving abilities. Reviews and judges the suitability of capability solutions and the planned approach + Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all. Advises stakeholders on issues affecting the broader engineering approach to engineering activities. + Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Masters of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics and Computer Science or related discipline + Experience with low-observable flight planning + Understanding of military Air Operation Centers + Development experience of operational systems + Experience with business capture writing proposals and whitepapers + Experience with strategy development and execution + Knowledge of open, standards-based architectures, interfaces + Proficiency in multiple high level programming languages (e.g., C , Java, Python) + Knowledge of and experience with software design patterns and heuristics and their application **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
