MIT Student Technical Asst (RF Technology)

MIT Lincoln Laboratory researches and develops advanced technologies to meet critical national security needs. What sets us apart from many national R&D laboratories is an emphasis on building operational prototypes of the systems we design. The RF Technology Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory develops and demonstrates innovative radio-frequency (RF), or wireless, technologies and integrated subsystems as solutions to emerging national security needs in radar, electronic warfare, signals intelligence (SIGINT), and special communications.

Job Description – MBA/Graduate Research Intern – Market Analysis (Part-Time)

The RF Technology Group has a multi-year project that is funded by the CHIPS and Science Act and is focused on transitioning emerging wireless technology from laboratory prototypes to commercial production. Depending on a candidate’s background and interests, there are opportunities to support this transition in several different aspects, including the following:

 

Market Research and Validation: uncover potential markets for specific wireless technologies, validate commercial potential, identify target customers and their specific needs.

 

Business Model Development: craft a sustainable business model aligned with a specific RF technology and market, including identifying relevant partners.

 

Manufacturing and Scaling: identify manufacturing solutions and develop a scalable production plan.

 

This position includes opportunities to work with the leaders and their engineering teams who are developing next-generation wireless systems, influence the design of associated hardware and software, and explore the commercial potential of the resulting solutions.

 

Requirements:

Incoming, first- or second-year MBA students interested in technology, business development, and/or entrepreneurship. Ability to be in the Lexington, Massachusetts, area for part of the year (flexible work arrangements are possible).

 

Nice-to-haves:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other STEM-related subjects. Interest in the aerospace, defense, security, and/or government services sectors.

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
